90.1 Pacifica

I am pretty sure it is still branded as Pacifica correct? Well, at the moment it’s currently off the air nothing but static boat on FM and HD.

From what I heard on air they just brand as “90.1 KPFT”. And checking the radio now it’s back but HD2 is off again

KSBJ has a CP to increase antenna height at the tower they share. I wonder if that has anything to do with it?
Hopefully it improved their signal to the south some. Its seems the downtown sky scrapers cause a shadow in the signal to the south east. KSBJ has a terrible signal in Galveston compared to their old facility, despite it being almost equal dBu strength on paper. Downtown Houston is directly in line with the current tower, hopefully another 150 feet will help some, even losing 27kW of ERP, but you really need at the very least a fully speced class C1 (100kw @ 981') to cover Houston well these days.

You just couldn't ask for a more complimentary pair to be sharing the same stick.
KPFT is one of the few radio stations I’ve heard them say MF at night. Definitely won’t hear that word on KSBJ 😂

They should have tried for 92.1. It would have been a perfect partner for KSBJ in the southern parts of the metro.

In other news, when I went to look this up, I noticed KSBJ is putting in a boatload of on-frequency boosters in areas where the station should have a terrific signal already. Two are already licensed, and there's a CP for a third.

I've gotta hand it to Bert Goldman. He's masterful at getting signal challenged stations to part with their money. I guess nobody at KSBJ was paying attention to the performance of the now deleted KFNC-FM1.

Knowing these boosters exist, I wonder what percentage of KSBJ's signal woes can be attributed to self interference?

I drove by all 3 of the boosters about a year ago and neither of them were on. I still don’t think either of them are on. I know the one in The Woodlands isn’t currently

I fully agree on 92.1, and they could have divested KXBJ to offset some of the cost. I saw the antenna for one of the boosters on their STL tower at the studio. A weird slanted log periodic configuration. It didn't seem to be active at the time based on the signal quality I was receiving in the parking lot.
