Raul Brindis fired?

Yes, he has left the building.
With all the rumors about him on this board, it seems fair to ask; did he leave in a tantrum or was he asked to leave?

If this separation is official, I don't think he will last long off the air. He carries a lot of weight in this market and will likely land somewhere soon. I wouldn't be surprised if someone flips to Regional Mexican just to snag his show. KROI/SBS or Estrella/KQQK makes the most sense, but a wild card wouldn't surprise me.

Based on what has been said about him on the board in the past, it seems like he has left on his own in the past only to come back a few times, so it wouldn't surprise me if it happened again. If that is the case, this is around the time he goes on vacation anyways with pre recordings of the show being aired, giving Univision plenty of time to get him back before the New Year.

If this is in fact official, though, a possible wild card flip I could see happening for him to make his return (though unlikely) could be KQBT with "93.7 El Patron" branding.

His recent ratings were somewhere between bad and terrible, so this is not as big a deal as it seems.

Biggest rumor is that LMN wants to hire him and create a network for his show including many of the stations turkeys they bought from Univision.

To be honest, that makes the most sense, as those stations are centered in the RGV, where Raúl is from.

I still see them keeping BMF in Vegas, as you do want to keep the LA ties in Nevada.

So the show still aired today (pre-recorded) Dumb to continue to air his show when he has exited the company
So I will say BMF will take over the morning spot on KLTN which had always been the plan. Raul will be ready after all he owns the entire studio inside the Univision building. Univision will announce the new mala on Jan 3rd she comes from Mexico and is a big talent out there but she ran into some immigration issues and that is the reason for the delay.

Raúl is from Monterrey where he even got his engineering degree!

The LMN stations are not "centered" in the LRGV... although their corporate HQ will be there as they own a large building in the market and can accommodate all the corporate functions.

I did not know there are any "LA Ties" in Las Vegas. The Hispanic, and particularly the Mexican American / Mexican population went directly there for the most part, not through LA.

I usually think of Vegas as an extension of Southern California due to all the Californians who move there. Or more likely, travel there on vacation.

In any case, due to proximity, tastes are going to be closer to California or the Pacific coast of Mexico than they are to Texas or Northeast Mexico.

What does BMF stand for? Big mother f****r?

Why go through all of that trouble when they can just do the work remotely?

But the more pressing issue; will importing talent work? Something that worked in Mexico isn't guaranteed to work in the US. I don't speak Spanish, but even I can tell the difference in presentation between XHAAA-FM in Reynosa and KGBT-FM in McAllen. Same goes for TV. I can't imagine the local Univision or Telemundo news team doing what Televisa in Mexico City does on a daily basis. Culturally it may be the same people, but there are American influences that change the appetite of Mexican Americans.

I guess what I'm trying to say is; It's radio! Find a local cheaper voice and get to it. There's no need to try and get fancy by hiring someone most of your listeners will never physically see or haven't heard of. This isn't rocket science.

Ready for what? To continue syndicating his show to other markets? I wonder what the plan is in San Antonio?

El Bueno, La Mala y el Feo, Univision's Regional Mexican morning show out of KSCA, and that right now plays on tape delay on KLTN and KROM.

I guess it might stand for "Big mother f****r" if it refers to Raúl el Pelón, which would be a fatphobic thing to say if he didn't regularly make self-deprecating jokes about his girth.

If she's out of the Regional Mexican format, there's probably much less difference than picking someone from a pop station. Regional Mexicans appeals to working class or rural people, and those are largely the same on both sides of the border. The only difference is that the demographic is much more profitable in the USA.

And actually, Televisa and Univision are the same company at this point.

Hypothetically speaking Raul starts Feb 1st on LMN,Estrella or even KROI. I'm assuming Univision would impose a noncompete for the Houston Market. I'm saying Houston because we all know Raul does not do well in another markets.

They don't need her to work. The girl in the show is more of a filler the other two host of the show are the brains and success of BMF

And he was not doing well recently in Houston, either.

Do you think a noncompete even matters to Univision? I really doubt it he's just gonna be free and clear. I'm assuming there's a lot of money tied to his brand even though the ratings weren't the best.
Raul had a very different contract he owns his show, the name, the brand, the studio all that was and is his and not Univisions.
