Al Michaels removed from NFL playoff coverage by NBC, surprising him. No one has called more Super Bowls

He had a placeholder deal with NBC, so he could have been used for other events.
you can quote and reply to multiple people art a time.. hit quote, reply.. quote reply, makes the thread a little less clogged with 1 at a time replies..... please? and thanks :)

Well Al Michaels is not just known for his roles as doing the play by plays of the biggest sporting events but also he had a role in reporting the Loma Prieta Quake from Candlestick park to the nation while ABC News was waiting for the KGO News team to get reports from all over the Bay Area over deaths and damage from the 1989 quake. But Sorry to see him leave then again TV in general has to lower their median demos one way or another.

Note if you were in Sacramento or Bay Area at the time the quake happened you went straight to local news and not seen the Al Michaels clip reporting the Quake for ABC News from Candlestick Park.

Yes it was! When's the last time you saw an NFL team score 60+ points?
As CT mentioned, Miami did it this year.

The Raiders lost 3-0 to Minnesota. 4 days later they scored 63.
This brings up the topic of gambling and "Point Shaving". The NFL used to distance itself from gambling. Now they embrace it. Some of these games do look questionable when you see how they play out...

Curious. I thought he had already left, and that's why he went to Amazon for TNF.

Perhaps this role was just to fulfill the terms of his contract.
He did a playoff game for NBC last year, and he thought it was in his contract that he would get to do one each year when NBC has more than one playoff game, but they must have had an out that he wasn't aware of since he was surprised.

I wonder if they have to still pay him for breaching the contact.
