Post your latest DX

You're rockin' it Paul! KGYN rarely makes it to WA nowadays...let alone AK! KHAT is always too strong. I'll have to check the dials before bed.
I wonder if KOKC can make it up there (or is there too much KKXA)? Let alone WBAP (can KCBF be nulled out?)

Another MT to look for is KBOW-550 Butte with country music. But is Anchorage too strong to phase down?

KKXA mostly owns 1520, its not always great but listenable.... and the only time ive heard something else is a spanish station in portland or down in CA (the later staying on after sunset)

I've never heard anything else on 550, 590, 650... 660.. but the anchorage and fairbanks signals

Anyone who knows anything about HF/SW DXing or Ham Radio knows that long haul 6mhz day time DX is fairly rare and to have it be very good is even more rare. 6mhz is a night time-ish frequency.

Well, Alaska is an exception to just about every propagation rule that applies to the lower 48. This is Adventist World Radio in Arabic on 6130khz via Nauen, Germany to North Africa at 1818UTC on Sat Nov 18th here in McGrath, Alaska and as you can hear, it's a pretty good signal

AWR Arabic 6130khz Sat Nov 18, 2023 1918UTC.mp3

TEF6686 radio, 15ft Wellbrook loop, Emtech ZM2 antenna tuner and DXE Preamp

I don't post audio often because it takes alot to sort through it, takes time to upload and post.. and not enough people really care, its a niche thing, I get it.. so I mainly keep these recordings for myself.

I'm hearing 690 WOKV Jacksonville on the Elizabeth City, North Carolina SDR just before 2 pm their local time.

The signal started out weak and slowly got stronger then faded again.

There's another station in the background and I have no idea what it could be.

6:15am CST t0day. KCRV 1370 Caruthersville. MO. Local news and "southeast Missouri weather". 1kw ND day power (presumably). Mixing with KDTH and sometimes on top, About 400 mile's SSW of me and 90 miles north of Memphis. Radio: C Crane Skywave.

cyberdad's catch on 1370 inspired me to leave SiriusXM's Sinatra channel for a bit and punch up 1370. I was, at about 7:10 p.m. CT on today (12/13/2023) by a different Missouri station, KWRT Boonville, momentarily on top of a pile with 84 watts and a clear ID. No. 577 on AM for me.

Then it faded into the mush and WSPD Toledo eventually took over with Toledo Rockets basketball. Listened for a better part of 15 minutes and the announcer never said whom the Rockets were playing. Only gave the score or margin twice. Guess egg timers are out of vogue.

KDTH and WSPD are the usual occupants of 1370 at my location. Slight advantage to KDTH. Most wanted for me is WCOA (Pensacola). Never have heard even a whiff of it, but I know others around here have.

Nics catch with KWRT. Boonville is in Western Missouri between KC and Columbia on I-70. Driven by it a number of times, but never stopped. And yep,,,egg timers in the booth are obviously out of fashion.

Tonight I heard a program on 1030 (there was quite a bit of fade, but it was mostly listenable) that sounded like some sort of talk show, the subject of which was education-related, and the host (man) was interviewing a teacher (woman). I checked the online stream of WBZ Boston, MA, and saw that there was a talk show that sounded somewhat like what i was hearing over the air, but I couldn't tell.

So, either I heard the catch of the year, or I heard a program on a closer by station that, by coincidence, had a similar format and was discussing a similar topic.

Thoughts?

Radio New Zealand International is blasting in on 13755 khz on my CC Skywave with the signal strength level as high as it can go at a mostly steady 9.

They have some interesting programs.

Right now, they are talking about the importance of sleep and dreaming.

RNZ on 13755 is hitting a solid 6 on the Sony ICF-2010 meter in the Chicago suburbs. A bit of fading but really clear when at peaks. The magic of shortwave.

How strong was it? KTWO is way strong at night here and should be in California too. I think KMAS Shelton may have gone back to a music-based format. I've tried for WBZ, many times, no luck. But I did hear WCTS Minneapolis one time when they left the 50K stick on all night.

KTWO would be carrying a syndicated show, WBZ would be carrying a local talk show.

WBZ is not impossible on the west coast with a sensitive radio and big antenna, but i dont think thats what cc333 has

I've heard K2in AK.. and WBZ in SE WY, 110 miles from K2, but i have a very sensitive radio and a big antenna

It was fairly strong, so probably KTWO, then?

If I get an opportunity to listen for it again tonight, I'll see if I can catch an ID.

Again, not saying WBZ isnt popssible where you are. .but much more likely it was K2

Agree that it was probably K-2. On my biz trips to the west,K-2 was pretty solid up and down the coast. BUT, that said, I did hear WBZ on a cheap clock radio as a teenager in a Flagstaff, AZ hotel room. Pretty good signal and several positive ID. I couldn't believe it! But I also know that 50kw aimed in the right direction can sometimes accomplish the unexpected.

Right. It would be fantastic if it were WBZ, but I'm inclined to agree that it's most likely KTWO, barring any additional information. KTWO is still impressive to me though, as it's more than 1,000 miles from here.

What I really want to hear is KYW on 1060, but the large amount of slop from KTCT on 1050 effectively makes anything on 1060 unlistenable.

In reviewing I/Q files form June 11th 2023 I found more Multihop FMB ES.

89.9 WKVO Georgetown, KY 2032 Miles New
92.5 WBKR Owensboro, KY 1904 Miles New

WBKR is not a 100% confirmed however it was airing a NASCAR Cup series tournament and I had a mulithop path to KY at the time. Friend helped me ID this. More then likely it was this.

If you have the storage I/Q files are awesome as you can go back later when you have the time or bored and find ALOT of missing things compared to using a normal radio.

Also attached and image showing all the Multihop logs from that day.
WKVO is a semi local for me at approximately 30 miles (air)! Great catch!
