Más Flo 107.7fm is now El Sol 107.7fm

Another regional Mexican station. :-/

Radio in San Diego just got more boring.
First, this is not a San Diego station. It serves the Tijuana market, which is the 6th largest metro in Mexico:

And, the signal they have is basically a Tijuana area signal, and does not extend well into all of San Diego's Metro Survey Area.

MLC Media is marketing it as a San Diego market station. As recently as the September PPM it had a 1.8 share (down to 1.2 in November). But in reality its purpose was to sell MLC's syndicated product in both countries.

But, having programmed two of the stations in SD, I was very aware of the Tijuana stations. That one only gets up to mid-county at all well. There is a huge Mexican community in North Counnty.

As a decades-long resident of San Diego, and former broadcast manager there, I'd say the majority of the Mexican community is south of Interstate 8 -- definitely within reach of 107.7's limited signal.

There is an HDHA in North County that weighs heavily in the sample.

Within the last year. SD has all of this Mexican stations now that play similar music. 90.7, 94.5/99.7,95.3,98.9, 104.9, 106.5, and 107.7. I miss variety on the radio when I first moved to SD two years ago. :-/

I noticed the slogan: "Sólo Idolos". Which is the same one as KLAX in Los Angeles.

And La Invasora recently ditched KLAX's morning show El Terrible for Entravision's La Bronca.

I suppose there will not be a return to "Los 40 Principales", now shortened to "Los 40" for 107.7 or another TJ station. That was the 40 most listener voted songs of the week, a good portion of it mirrored the US top 40, also older titles like the Macarena would show up, and of course, Spanish language songs popular in Latin America.

Certainly not while MLC is running the station as a showcase for its product, basically.
