Sitrep from the Normandy beaches

Had a few moments with the rental car at Longues-sur-Mer, almost due south of Southampton, and thought I’d see what’s on AM (I expect all from the UK):

558 kHz acapella singing in Arabic
603 kHz Stephanie Mills-“Never Knew Love Like This Before”
648 kHz Andrew Gold-“Thank You For Being a Friend”
693 kHz Talk (political, seemed informal)
756 kHz Talk (seemed pop-culture oriented)
882 kHz Lenny Kravitz-“I Want to Get Away”
909 kHz Talk (political, very sober British stuff)

(12:00 now, seems like top-of-the-hour news is very much a thing)

945 kHz News
972 kHz Channel IDd as “Sunrise”
1026 kHz News
1035 kHz News
1053 kHz Talk Sports (that’s the name)
1089 kHz Sports
1152 kHz News (sounds like a TV simulcast)
1170 kHz Fleetwood Mac-“Dreams”
1323 kHz also “Dreams”—-in sync with 1170
1458 kHz Indian

(All the time I had)

2 hours, 45 minutes later, a chance to pick up the rest.

603, 1170 and 1323 are “Smooth Radio”, a 70s gold format.

1548 Queen-“Somebody to Love”. This is the famous Capitol Gold 1548.

Surpised that you could pick up Sunrise so far away. It is low powered, using two frequencies to cover London.

I had completely forgotten I'd posted this---or for that matter, that I'd listened. I was operating in post-COVID fog, was fatigued and let my wife explore one of the WWII sites without me.
