Medved's show out at KTTH

While trying to DX the stations that show up regularly behind KTTH at sunset, I heard a promo for Guy Benson's show coming to KTTH in Medved's regular daily time slot.

I guess this has been public knowledge for more than a week at least, but I'm a bit surprised, as Medved's show has been on 770 for so long.

The linked article says Michael Medved is a Salem Media talent. But Medved left Salem 4 years ago because he was uncomfortable with Doneld Trump. He was replaced at Salem with Sebastian Gorka:

Medved said he would continue doing his show locally in Seattle at KTTH and offer it to anyone else interested in carrying it. I guess he has decided to pull the plug, or Bonneville has decided to make a change.

Seems like you're the only one who noticed.

Medved is 75. His show has been on for almost 30 years. How much longer was he planning on keeping up this pace?

It appears they're replacing a local host with national syndication.
Medved has been syndicated for decades. He was with Salem until 2018 and has been with Genesis Communications Network since. The show originates in Seattle, but hasn't been Seattle-only since the late 1990s.

I get all of that, but if you go to Medved's twitter, the only station he ever promotes is KTTH. If he originated there, that meant they handled some of his show's infrastructure, and they won't have to do that with the Benson show.

I'd just be curious what Medved's side of this is. So far, no one's asked. There might be a story there.

Notice that KTTH is not only picking up Guy Benson for weekdays from the Fox syndicated talk network but Jimmy Failla as well. Failla will be recorded and delayed until the 12-3 a.m. slot. Benson had aired during weekends. And KTTH also runs Fox network news on the hour. So we can say this is part of a larger deal between KTTH and Fox News Radio.

Interesting that Armstrong & Getty only air on the weekend on KTTH, even though that show seems to pick up new weekday West Coast affiliates every month. It's syndicated by Premiere Networks-iHeart from KSTE Sacramento. But I guess Fox made the better deal with Bonneville and kept Armstrong & Getty for weekends only.

Medved didn't fit with the style or narrative most conservative talk stations are all in on. Agree with him or not, at least he was a scholarly and measured commentator, who had the courage to go against the trends in his own party. To not have hosts like him is a dumbing down of a format that already seems to prefer hot takes and rudeness over reasoned articulation of conservative views.

Guy Benson is similar in scope to Medved, vis-a-vis the other standard conservative talkers' way of doing things. He's definitely conservative, but not a ranter like some of the others (Levin being an obvious example of that). Seems to talk more about policy than attacking liberal politicians. He's openly gay, and married, so he brings a different perspective to the conservative talk thing, so maybe it will fly in Seattle. I used to hear him overnights on 770 when other programs were boring.

That sounds like the kind of show I’d be interested in checking out. I think it’s cool to see KTTH adding perspectives of those who don’t fit the conventional conservative talk radio mold. Regardless of what your politics may be, I don’t think there is much to be gained by listening to the most extreme of opinions.
