TEGNA drops the ax on Twist

In Memphis, it was on WATN on 24.4. It’s gone now, and Quest which was on 24.6 has moved to 24.4, and it skips from 24.5 to 24.7 with 24.6 missing. I really hope they will put Catchy or Dabl on 24.6. Never watched Twist anyways.
Twist is only good for bad movies

Tegna owned WBNS-DT in Columbus, Ohio dropped Twist from 10.7 and is now carrying True Crime Network on that channel. True Crime Network is also on 10.4 as well.

Up until a year ago, exclusively OTA viewing was something like 21% of the total U.S TV audience. With streaming replacing cable, I doubt exclusive OTA viewing has grown. That means the diginets are likely only reaching a small audience with uncertain potential for future growth. Chances are diginets like Twist, Grit, and Quest aren't seeing enough advertising to support the distribution infrastructure, let alone the rights fees paid for their programming. In 2024 I see more of these diginets either folding up their tents, or changing programming in an attempt to appeal to a demo more inline with what advertisers are trying to reach.

Grit is on Direct TV and Dish, Cozi TV is on Direct TV and Dish, Bounce is on Direct and Dish. While others are just starting to grow on satellite.

People that have cable the .2, .3 .4 and so on are usually in the 100 + channels of their cable packages if their local affiliates carry those networks and if they don't then they won't air them in those markets on cable.

For some reason, in Los Angeles, Twist is still going on KMEX-DT 34-6. As I post this, they’re showing Decked Out. Their website has nothing more than a notice of their shutdown. I thought that would leave that subchannel with a blank screen.

You sure that ain't Quest?
Yes, because I just compared Twist (the aforementioned KMEX-DT 34-6) and Quest (KFTR-DT 46-5) and they’re both showing different programming. Not only that, the Quest logo is at the bottom right corner of the screen on 46-5; whereas on 34-6, there is no logo. The EPG built into my smart TV lists Off Air where the name of the show would be, but there is actual programming. Each time, coming out of a commercial break, a “This is Twist” bumper airs. All that leads me to believe that Twist is now a dead diginet walking, and TEGNA didn’t completely pull the plug yet.

Can anyone in other markets with an Univisión/UniMás O&O (e.g. WXTV-DT 41-3 in NYC, WGBO-DT 66-6 in Chicago, KFSF-DT 66-6 in San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose, etc.) that carries Twist on a subchannel confirm or deny whether they’re still seeing Twist programming?

Theirs a lot that still carry it.

KLUZ 14.6 Albuquerque is still showing it. What could be going on here? Do they still need to provide some programming to fill time on their contract or something? I did find an article here: The OTA TV Network Twist is Shutting Down Next Week | Cord Cutters News not much info but it did mention the programs came mostly from NBCUniversal so the shows could possibly end up on NBC LX Home some time soon.
Some of the diginets seem to be doing quite good (relatively) as two of them placed in the top 30 most watched networks in 2023

So Grit is the fastest growing broadcast network even beating out The CW. Ion ranks high up there too.

In Atlanta Tegna's WXIA 11 is running Quest on 11.2 + 11.4. True Crime is on 11.3, Get on 11.5. I'd love to see them pick up Rewind TV which currently doesn't have a home here.
