BW TX300 transmitter not booting - Suggestions?

Our LPFM BW TX300 v3 transmitter was turned off for maintenance, but now it won't boot back up. The display just says "TX300 1.0.8 booting..."

Any suggestions?

Sorry the way this sounds; but I'd start shopping for a new transmitter. Crown is a much better and reliable option:

Not terribly familiar with BW transmitters (other than the one we have on the shelf that is a large paperweight, thanks to an unobtanium power supply)....but as I recall there is an SD or CF card in the transmitter that can become corrupt and keep the unit from booting.

You might try removing and re-seating the memory card (with the unit completely disconnected from power, of course) and see if that will restore it to operation.

I'll give that a try. I'll open it up and see if I can find it. Thanks.

I did email questions about my transmitter, through that very same support link. Your answer? Don't talk to us since you're out of warranty. Not even a single suggestion.

I'm not happy with BW support.

Hi Eric,

Please could you go through the process once more, I will make sure we keep an eye out for your support request.

Even as your unit is out of warranty we will always help our customers where we can.

In this instance it does seem as if you may have a corrupt SD card, which we can help with.

Regards

Okay, will do.

Eric, I know another guy who had the same problem. He used

Well, I did put in another ticket to BW Broadcast to see what they say, and if they can help with possible corrupted SD card. I did open up the TX300v3. Picture below. 2 SD cards, as a prior poster mentioned. One on main board in picture, the other behind the front display panel. I'm hoping BW may be able to walk me through a fix. Otherwise, I'll have to ship it off to Progressive Concepts. All this time, of course, we are off the air.

Okay, despite Mr. Tucker of BW Broadcast assuring me that BW support would help, they didn't. Just like the last time, the support department simply referred me to Progressive Concepts, wasting a day of my time. Not sure why they bother with their "support" link on their website. All I was looking for was some advice, and possibly how to get new SD cards. Not sure if this is part of their new corporate culture since they reorganized.

So far, Progressive Concepts in Chicago has been very helpful, though.

Like I said; expect excuses not results. Or, at least a runaround. Time to face the fact that going ultra-budget on a transmitter doesn't return long-term results.
Get yourself a Nautel or Crown and rest easy at night because both have excellent support:

You didn't want to ship your gear to England anyway. Eric in Chicago is a good guy. He will fix you up. You might want to have a spare transmitter in the rack for next time. Everything has a computer in it now days. Be it your transmitter, car, refrigerator, or hot water heater. Gues what it is that always gets screwed up?

The guys who design Crown FM transmitters do engineering for my sister's commercial FM in Northern Indiana. They say they can fix any transmitter. My sister is very fond of them. They do good work.

That's an option too. Now if he had a Crown transmitter already, this discussion wouldn't be happening.

So we're back on the air as of yesterday! Progressive Concepts (I believe they're the exclusive U.S. distributor for BW transmitters) had shipped me two new pre-programmed SD cards with the latest firmware (2.0). After installing them (very easy) and putting the transmitter back in the rack (and re-connecting the antenna), I powered it up, and the transmitter went through a 5-minute boot and it was ready to go. Since this had the effect of restoring everything to factory defaults, I had to re-input the settings, but that didn't take long. Still need to look up my RDS settings, though...
