Congressman: "Let us watch the damn game!"

U.S, Rep. Pat Ryan, D-NY, blasts "greed" in letter to NBC, NFL over Peacock exclusivity for Dolphins-Chiefs game.

Interestingly, when one does an internet search for Pat Ryan Congress, the first search result that pops up is a whole diatribe about this game and the carrier...It looks like a push to gain political points and "show the people" that he's fighting for them. As the article in the OP correctly states, Thursday Night Football hasn't been available OTA for a while. As we've all discussed elsewhere on this site, certain key college games have only been available via streaming for a few seasons. I don't think a "strongly worded letter" from a Congressman is going to change that.

People have been clamoring for “unbundling” and “a la carte” for years. Now they have it and don’t like it? Sorry…you got what you wanted. This is what a la carte looks like!!

The NFL wants to extract every last dollar it can. Nobody is obligated to pay or watch. There was a time when the NFL used to blackout games in the local market when they didn't sell out the stadium...

According to one article, tickets to sit in the upper bowl for this game are selling for $50 and tickets to sit in the lower bowl are $200 - $250 because it'll be so bitter cold. Also, there will be no Sunday game as the Buffalo game has now been moved to Monday due to a potential weather event there. So Peacock may get some subscribers out of this (regardless of whether Congressman Pat Ryan approves). It looks like the local NBC affiliates in Miami and KC will be carrying the game OTA...So if folks can find a bootleg stream of those signals, they can watch it there free gratis.

Plenty of such streams hosted in countries that don't cooperate with the US in taking them down. Of course, you'll always run the risk of downloading all sorts of nastiness along with the game,

If people are desperate not to pay, they could find a friend or relative who could "share" the game via Skype or Zoom. It all seems ridiculous. How about just watching a movie on Saturday night?

The Steelers vs Bills game was moved to Monday at 430p and will remain on CBS. The NFL was obviously concerned about blizzard conditions in Buffalo, even though Monday could still be bad weather...

Was that just on Peacock, or did it include NFL+? I watched the game on the latter.

Here's the story on the Peacock viewership:

So it DOES include NFL+ and the local OTA stations:

With an average audience (AMA) of approximately 23.0 million viewers across Peacock, NBC stations in Miami and Kansas City, and on mobile with NFL+, the Chiefs’ 26-7 win — in the fourth-coldest game in NFL history! — delivered the most-streamed event ever in the U.S. (according to Nielsen custom fast national data).

Did anyone here stream it on Peacock? Were there any buffering or similar problems?
