Liberal pirate on 103.3 in Mesa?

The past couple of days I've been picking up a station on 103.3 in my car. Sounds like liberal talk. Thing of it is, I seem to only pick up a listenable signal when I am driving north or south. When I turn a corner to go east or west it pretty much disappears. Came in good on Lindsay Rd. until I turned the corner onto Baseline, but when I turned in to the Wal-Mart parking lot at Stapley and Baseline it came back. Then when I parked there facing south it came in great.

No commercials, didn't hear any legal ID but I did hear one s-bomb.

Strangely enough, I didn't hear any bleedover from KLNZ. And the radio in the 2020 Corolla I'm leasing can barely pick up KCDX in Mesa. They even fade out in Florence.

Didn't hear 103.3 last night (1/23) at all; storm must have knocked them off for a bit.

KVJC 91.9 comes in well in the east valley, and on Power Rd. you can even pick up KOHN Sells.
That freq is not likely to be used here unless it's a Part 15 or something.
As for 92.9, I think there are about three or four LP stations scattered around the valley. You can get The Bull out of Tucson on Power Rd. also.

102.9 would be a good open one as long as it's not too far east.

I swear, Phoenix is gonna out-radio SoCal, if it hasn't already.

I don't hear anything on 91.9. I'm near the Loop 202 and Recker in NE Mesa, on pretty high ground (1500' ASL) in the foothills of Usery Mountain.

There's a religious station near Dear Valley Airport that's weak but audible, and something else in Spanish. Tucson sometimes sneaks in but San Tan Mountain is in the way, blocking most Tucson FMs and all TV stations.

There are applications for LPFMs on 92.9 for the Salt River Indian Community and for someone else that wants to build near Val Vista and Brown (IIRC) in NE Mesa (there is a church on that corner). No CP(s) have been issued as yet, though.

I hear at least one Phoenix translator on that frequency, and there used to be a pirate airing rap in the vicinity of 40th St. and Broadway. No idea if it's still on the air; this was about 10 years ago.

I remember that. It was on 101.9 and called Phoenix Jams and they played uncensored rap and Hip Hop. They used to have a regular program called the Midday Mix.
Came in great around 48th St. and Baseline, and on the 143. I was able to get an aircheck in my car using the video on a primitive Samsung Convoy II, but it was in the .3g2 format and very low quality. This was back around 2011 or 12.

He's probably using a horizontal dipole antenna or long wire which are highly directional off the side of the wire. So if you're picking up the signal north/south, then the antenna is stretching east/west.

Sounds like the same atheist programming that regularly runs on 106.1 around I-17 and Glendale.
