Spokane Rimshotter KPKL (KOOL 107.1)

Several Spokane rimshooters use boosters and translators to cover portions of the metro area. Among them is KPKL, a Class C3 from Deer Park, (CoL). The station was recently featured in an Inlander article:

The article mentions the station's interest in operating KEWU..

"If the university accepts this plan, the station will eliminate the local advertising on KOOL because it's a noncommercial, educational license. It's good for KOOL and for the new folks it could reach, but could be a bummer for some local advertisers."

It's a pity KEWU doesn't reach as far as Moses Lake. Well it would if that local translator (K208BY //KOLU) wasn't in the way.

The article mentioned the current financial challenges with KOOL 107. Then why take on a big expense like KEWU, likely a money-pit.

KEWU has a much larger coverage area than KPKL, which means more potential listeners and donations (should they become non-commercial).

Hurry - before K-LOVE/EMF swoops it up! That's probably one of the goals for their next spring fundraiser. Either to buy out KEWU or to buy out KPKL and go to 50 or even 100KW at 107.1. At least there's a slight possibility that KJEM may take over KEWU, at least.
