Someone had previously posted an article requesting information on RCA BTA 5T 5 KW AM transmitters, wondering how many still exist.
I have one that I will be putting up for sale on EBAY. It was bought used by WEMR 1460, and was in service until about 8 years ago, when it could not make licensed power anymore, because of all the tubes going flat. The station was operating under an STA at 1 KW, until a used, but still factory supported Harris DX-10 was installed, that's when I got involved with that station, which has had multiple call sign changes. Now as is often the case, the land under the four tower DA2 antenna system is more valuable than the radio station. But instead of going silent forever, a change to non-directional 2.5 KW Day, 86 watt night has been approved and tower #1 at the north end of the land stays, and a small building has been moved there to install the Harris 2.5 KW and a BE AM-1A.
So now the RCA has to be gone. I will be posting it on EBay, the listing should go "live" in a few hours. Starting bid will be ONE DOLLAR, but the catch is "As is, where is, buyer to remove and load", and it needs to be gone within one week of auction close. The city of license is Tunkhannock PA.
