AM Frequency of the Week 1110

In east-central Iowa: nothing daytime, unless I'm on an exceptional receiver, in which case I might hear a weak WMBI. Nighttime is sometimes KFAB. It's sometimes listenable, often weak, and sometimes absent altogether. I've still never heard WBT here.
 
Central Kentucky:

Days: WCBR Richmond w/Southern Gospel

With only 250 watts and 25 miles away, it won't stop the scan button at my location.

Nights: Sometimes WBT, sometimes KFAB.....

Welcome back to the coast, cyberdad!

I'm 14 miles inland from the gulf and have heard KTIS a few times this far in. WHEP here in Foley has been off for months so reception in general is better for me since I'm pretty close to their TX. Several years ago I also heard WOMN out of Franklinton, LA but I think it's been silent for a while now, too.

Retro: Normally this frequency would be occupied by Bay Minette's WTOF, sometimes even all night long, much to the chagrin of DXers everywhere.

From NW San Antonio:

Day: Just local 1100 KDRY's splatter.

Sunset: KVTT in Mineral Wells, TX, is heard if I aim the radio N-NE, which nulls the splatter a bit. KFAB eventually starts mixing in, as does XERED in Mexico City.

Night: It's a mix of KFAB and XERED with the splatter somewhat reduced. KFAB is the most dominant. Often I can hear KEJL "Eagle 100.5" in Humble, NM, with a weak signal before it signs off when I aim W-NW. XEWR in Ciudad Juárez can sometimes be heard with Spanish-language Catholic programming in that same direction.

Sunrise: When KVTT signs on for the day, it mixes in with KFAB and XERED and makes a mess. Aiming W-NW, I can hear a weak KEJL when it comes back on the air (as well as more KDRY splatter). Occasionally I'll hear XEWR and later KTEK "Relevant Radio" in Alvin, TX, when it signs on.

DX/Retro: I've heard KWVE in Pasadena just once, back when it was KRDC "Radio Disney Country." Other one-time loggings include KTTP in Pineville, LA, about nine years ago when it was still on one night, and the now-silent WTOF in Bay Minette, AL, at sunrise. Also, I heard XEOQ "Notigape" in Rio Bravo a few times at sunrise before it was retired. On rare occasions I'll hear a faint WBT at night and at sunrise.

Days: I get a faint signal of WTBQ Warwick, NY, but only on my most sensitive radios. WTBQ is a daytimer that has a Full Service format.

Nights: I receive WBT "News Talk 1110/99.3 WBT" Charlotte, NC, which airs News/Talk programming. I usually get good reception of this station at night.

DX/Retro: On 11/27/2022, I received WXES "ESNE Radio" Chicago, IL a few hours after it was supposed to sign off, mixing with WBT. It was airing Spanish-language Catholic programming.
 
Charleston, SC:

Daytime: A weak WBT. Depends on the season and what time of day it is. Some mornings it blasts in until about 9am, others it fades. Their logo pops up on my car radio with the RadioDNS feature it has. Cold winter days it can stay in all day.

Critical hours: WTIS sometimes comes in over WBT. Actually somewhat decently. Maybe twice in my life I have gotten KFAB. Early in the morning.

Night: WBT at varying strength. Sometimes weak due to skywave/groundwave cancellation, sometimes as strong as the locals. Usually the two mix in the Columbia area and cause an annoying het. Their skywave goes out to like 70 miles from the transmitter. WMBI sometimes when it was that.

Thanks for the welcome tomservo. Great to be back for the month in our favorite "Happy Place". And great to hear from you.

I was a little surprised to discover after our arrival that WHEP was off. Sad. I thought they were a good local station doing a great job. But it does open up some aznew DXing opportunities. I am hearng some very weak daytime signals on 1310. But so far too weak for me to decipher let alone ID. I'm hearing Spanish daytime on 1300, but haven't JDed it yet. 1320 here is splatter from WEBY. ...And, yep, I know exactly where WHEP's tower is.

I renenber WOMN here a few times. IIRC they had a CP for 10kw...or more. Not sure if that ever got built. I think they were originally a 1kw daytimer. WTIS is a new one for me.

Just inhouse and neihborhood noise during the day and at night WBT Charlotte NC swings in and out but rather weak. A Spanish music station and some others yet to be identified pass through during the grey zones.

From The West Coast (Northwest Washington State), It's Punjabi KRPA Oak Harbor (24/7). South of that nighttimes, it's KBND Bend, OR. In olden days, KFAB could be heard in Seattle. But now it only comes in as fast west as Spokane.

Your Spanish station, if you are hearing it around sunrise or sunset may be WXES Chicago. Spanish religious programming.
 
In the Wilkes-Barre(Northeast PA area), daytimes, nothing. Nights it's usually WBT Charlotte. There are other stations that can interfere with the WBT signal, especially during sunset.
 
Central Georgia.
Day: Nothing. In winter sometimes hear a weak WBT in morning and late afternoon. In winter, KFAB Omaha can be heard clearly over WBT for a few hours in the early morning.
Night: Strong WBT always
Critical: Have heard KXTT Dallas, WTIS Tampa, KGFL Clinton AR, WSLV Ardmore TN and WTOF Mobile AL (now off-air).
