KFXM-LP license canceled

With the station already silent, its phone numbers disconnected and its website offline, it was only a matter of time before its license would be cancelled.

The Lost Goldmine is now lost forever.

R.I.P. Chris Compton and KFXM-LP.
Knew it. Now who will try to get the license for Lancaster and bring a radio station up here. Maybe oldies or classic country maybe.

If he isn't to far I would like to attend his funeral.
He died Monday, the 24th. I haven't seen anything about services. His real name was Joel Zeeve, and I can't find an obit or funeral notices about him. It would likely be Lancaster, California. I've asked on the KFXM Facebook page and will let you know if I hear anything.

That's him. Chris was a great guy, I got to work with him a couple of times while I was taking care of the flock of KCRW transmitters. He was the local contract engineer for our Mojave transmitter (KCRY) but his day job was working for Adelman up in Ridgecrest, an hour and a half north of his home in Lancaster. They had him driving all over the place including over to to their stations in San Luis Obispo. I was living in the San Fernando Valley and whenever the KCRY transmitter hiccupped I was usually closer to it than he was. Up until her death his wife ran the KXFM office (back then you had to have a local contact available from 9-5) and the one time I went there to drop off a new key to the transmitter it was chock full of her love of cuckoo clocks and flowers. It was absolutely amazing Chris was able to make KXFM into such a quality operation given all the other constraints on his time. Truly a labor of love on his part.

It is not the old KFXM-LP. This is a different group that has it. The radiolocator page has bad information on the contact information. The correct information is
KFXM-LP
CHERRY VALLEY CA
LOW POWER FM
Channel 231 (94.1 MHz)
Urban Ingenuity, Inc.
835 N Highland Springs Av
Beaumont CA 92223

How would you personally measure "success" with an LPFM?

Simple he can pay the bills and pay DJ's and staff.

LOL its funny you think LPFM's have any staff

or any DJ's they pay.

Most LPFM's have one person whos in charge of management stuff, and sometimes-most times theyre volunteers, sometimes they get some pay.

Almost all LPFM DJ's are unpaid volunteers
