KDAV-1590 Lubbock Off Air?

Driving around West Texas, I've noticed that 1590 KDAV has been off-air for some time, although there is no indication via radio-locator, or nor an FCC notice that they are silent. There is apparently still power at the site, as the tower beacons are still on at night.

Anyone? Bueller? Raised or Lowered?

The station filed a resumption of operations in December after being silent for most of 2022.

I have heard anecdotally that many of High Plains Radio Network's stations are only broadcasting on a limited schedule around local high school sports. Other licenses are being lost such as the two this week in Clovis NM that have been silent for over a year.

I‘m aware of the cancellation of the KICA 980 license; what was the other station?

Used to live in Amarillo eons ago so always interested in any updates from that general area. When driving to and from Colorado last October I noticed KXIT 1240 in Dalhart was off the air.

According to the request for silence, filed in early April. The station went silent on March 31. The following is from the FCC filing to go silent.

High Plains Radio Network,LLC (HPRN) leases its current tower site and transmitter building forthis station from Vertical Bridge (VB). Since COVID-19 in 2020 andnow again for over the past year, HPRN and VB have been involved inlegal proceedings and many court filings regarding the leases on mostof the HPRN Tower sites. HPRN had been working closely with VBtoward a settlement in Court Legal Proceedings in Florida in goodfaith until VB failed to respond to the settlement offers this lastTuesday, March 26th, 2024.

As a direct result of thisfailure for a settlement agreement in Florida court; HPRN filed forUS Federal Bankruptcy Court Protection in Texas under Chapter 11 onMarch 26th, 2024

While further negationsare possible, at this time the station ownership feels that continuedoperations might be forced to be terminated suddenly on or afterMarch 31st, 2024.
