WCBS-FM's New York's Greatest Hits slogan gone?

What happened to New York's Greatest Hits slogan on WCBS-FM 101.1?
It's been gone for several months. My guess? Research showed it did not resonate with younger listeners, so they dropped it. Their new somewhat official slogan is "Songs That New York Loves"

This morning (Sunday) there was a DJ on WCBS-FM for the first time since the syndicated America's Greatest Hits ended. His name was Terry Donovan. He only talked about St. Patrick's Day and the NYC half marathon. He didn't back announce the titles and artists of the songs played.

I hope they introduce some more 90s hits. Good job adding I love you always forever, just a girl and I'll be to the rotation. The same 80s songs are starting to get stale fast

Which means he did his job correctly and well.

Back then, he was at WSPK’s “K104” for a number of years, and then, he was the program director at the then Clear Channel stations like WRNQ’s “Q92”, WRWD, WPKF’s “Kiss-FM”, WKIP and WBWZ for many years until he came back to New York City to do Sunday morning where he took over “America’s Greatest Hits” hosted by my idol, Scott Shannon.

Back in January, WCBS-FM was originally planned for a nationally syndicated Sunday morning show called “Rewind with Gary Bryan” and it wasn’t supposed to happened, so Terry O’Donnell (aka Terry Donovan) took over to do the 8-11AM shift on Sunday mornings for now after he came back from the Hudson Valley. I didn’t listened to Terry Donovan yesterday, because I’m not a fan of his. BTW, one more thing that I forgot to add, he was on WFLY’s “Fly 92.3” up in Albany where he did fill-ins for a while during the early part of the 2010’s.

And also. I don’t like the new slogan for WCBS-FM, because the term “Songs New York Loves” is kinda dumb IMHO. I prefer the slogans as “New York’s Oldies Station”, “The Greatest Hits Of All Time” and “Motown, Soul & Great Rock & Roll” which were part of the slogan used on WCBS-FM for the last 33 years when it was an oldies station. When the station returned in 2007, it was “New York’s Greatest Hits” for 25+ years, but this new slogan “Songs New York Loves” doesn’t make sense.

I might as well go back in time and listen to Mike McCann (not Mike McGann where I will
be listening to starting in two weeks) from probably from around 2002 where he counts down the Top 20 songs from 6/16/71. All of the songs were removed due to YouTube’s copyright issues. I missed “Airchecks By Radiomania” YT channel where he got terminated last night for uploading unscoped airchecks due to copyright issues. I hope they might come back anytime soon.

Might as well call it Jack FM again!!!
The astute would recognize that the WCBS-FM of 2024 is simply just an evolution of the station it has, historically, been. The songs from the 80s and 90s that they play now are as old or nearly as old as the 60s and 70s that it played in the 2000's/early 2010's. The core presentation hasn't really changed much either.

And speaking of WCBS-FM, let’s go back in time to 6/10/05, just 10 days after WCBS-FM flipped to “Jack”, Bob Shannon who was at WCBS-FM, was at WBZO’s former “B103” when it was an oldies station at the time did brought in Don K Reed and Bobby Jay, two of my favorites came to the station reminiscing about WCBS-FM during the last 33 years when it was “New York’s Oldies Station”.

As you may know, Bob Shannon passed away last year, and so did Don K Reed who also passed away a year before back in 2022, and Bobby Jay is the last surviving DJ from WCBS-FM, and he is still around doing his show on Belmonts Internet Radio doing “Soul In The City” playing R&B oldies. This is the one I just found, and I hope you’ll like it.

BTW, the audio quality was fine, but it wasn’t that good in the middle, where it gets better towards the end. Apologize for the audio quality.
