It really shouldn't be necessary to explain this, but here goes...

Radio (and TV) talent are human, just like the rest of us. They get sick. Their spouses and kids get sick. Their aging parents get sick or need some temporary support. Any of the above can be the victim of a car accident, or other kind of trauma. A home or apartment can suffer a fire, or major storm damage. Need I go on?

Not many stations are going to announce why personnel aren't around, unless it is for some innocuous reason like being away on a planned vacation. One reason might be because someone's likely to discuss it on Facebook or Twitter or a radio message board. And not only is it none of our business, there is the risk that some idiot will try to take advantage of the situation, so why tempt fate?

I’m nothing more than a radio fan. Have been since I was 12 years old. I’m the type of person who jumps in the car in the morning flips on the radio 📻 & Im used to hearing the same voices I’ve heard for years. When I don’t hear a voice for awhile I wonder. A great comparison would be the Kinks song “ Round the dial “ Im not looking for someone’s exact whereabouts. Just Curious why I’m not hearing a voice I’m used too.
