Wondering since they released him, if he would have to say serve a non compete or can say Guaranty or some of the other clusters pick him up?

Usually, with a layoff, there’s no noncompete. I have also seen where it’s possible that there is one for the duration of the severance pay, but that would mean being paid for that entire time and just starting the new job the day after it ends.
