No Joke. Star 101.5 Flipping Today Too

2:00pm Pacific. Now we may know why Hubbard may have made its flip at 98.9 this morning.

Wow, this will be weird, 101.5 has been Star most of my life. What was it, January 1994 that went? That would have made me about a month old. I just flipped it on, and it seems to be business as usual, though I'm not sure who's supposed to be on in middays these days. There's nobody there so far, but I did just hear a promo for two hours commercial free starting at 9 tomorrow morning. Seems a bit odd to not pull that promo if that's not going to happen. I will definitely be recording at 2 today.

My prediction is that they flip to R&B or Urban AC. Besides 103.7, there really isn’t a station that plays R&B or Hip Hop.
Not in that market. Demos and ad revenue aren’t there to support it. That’s why KUBE 2.0 failed and why the Z Twins are on AM only.

I hope it happens! I've wanted to see someone in the market try a gold-oriented Country format for years.
Every station branded "Hank" I've listened to online has been classic country rather than contemporary. Those on AM are much more likely to play '60s and '70s country than those on FM, which are mainly '90s and '00s, with some '10s and a good number of late '80s (the dawn of the New Traditional movement). I assume the Seattle version will play no '70s, and only a few pre-1988 '80s tracks, like George Strait's "Amarillo By Morning."

Focus will be on 90's - 2020 with a "diverse music library."
