2024 Solar Eclipse Coverage

ABC's Eclipse Across America was well done. Especially that totality scene over the lake in Burlington VT, and the live shots from Mazatlan at the start of the program. I didn't watch much of the coverage because I was DXing from the KiwiSDRs at that time. Total eclipses can cause wild AM DX.

The printed media along with radio and especially television have blown the eclipse waaaay
out of proportion to what SHOULD be more important and relevant news. We have not one
but two "wars" going on, domestic housing issues, the border with Mexico, crime, inflation,
etc, etc, etc. The "idea" of a free press and media sounds good on paper but what we have
here, now, in the U.S. and elsewhere, is media that drives what happens or will happen in the future.
The media here in the U.S. is hardly better than that of some communist/socialist countries.
I'm thinking Russia/China/Belarus/Iran/Israel, for example.

KPNX (NBC) only showing the Noon MST hour of NBC's coverage not opting to preempt Live with Kelly & Mark at 11AM.
Guess they really want that extra local ad revenue ($$$) Live gives them seeing that their sister TEGNA NBC affiliates (at least during DST for most of the country), KGW (Portland) & KING (Seattle), showed NBC News Eclipse 2-hour special in full.

If you moved to any of those countries, you’d be wishing for the free press of the US in about a week.

I bet you're a lot of fun at parties.

Hyperbole much? More than one thing can happen, and coverage of A when it’s relevant doesn’t mean B isn’t being covered. The wars overseas are still being covered. The border is still being covered. Inflation is still being covered. The fact that a news special replaced General Hospital for a day is not some communist plot.

Here is the next time an eclipse will take place and the estimates allegedly claim California as the path of the next eclipse if this is true.
The 2044 solar eclipse will only be in North Dakota and Montana, going more over Canada and the arctic. California gets a lunar eclipse next year.

Sir, this is a Wendy's.

I'm in Mesa, and it didn't get even the slightest bit darker, even with that much totality.

KPNX and KNXV are the only ones continuing with network coverage as I write this. It's pretty much over now, anyway.

I had to go out during this time & was a little concerned the new sunglasses won't be enough protection. Turns out, they're being passed off as Amazon EchoFrames when in fact, theyre nothing more than a pair of $4 sunglasses that cost me $40 as it they don't work well with Bluetooth & Alexa doesn't even detect them)

In any case, either I got back home before Totality hit or it COMPLETELY MISSED us in the Denver area

There was no path of totality in Colorado. That will come in 2045.

This is why I've been in Texas for a bit.
