Could KABC become KNX's sister station?

I think it is more likely than not. The main question is what happens to the overlap stations in a market with few buyers, and the promise of a cutthroat competitor taking over management.

It will be interesting to see who gets the divested stations in Chicago, Dallas and San Francisco if approved. The last time Audacy was required to divest stations was when they were known as Entercom and they were involved in the CBS Radio Deal. In that case in able for Audacy to get that deal approved they had to divest stations in San Francisco and Sacramento. The Sacramento and San Francisco former Audacy owned stations went to Bonneville.
That leaves just eight full clusters from one company or the other that all or most would need to be spun-off: Chattanooga, Chicago, Dallas, Kansas City, Memphis, New Orleans, San Francisco, and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. And it should be noted that of those eight, three of them are among the largest markets where iHeartMedia does not have any properties.

Well, as they say, s**t happens, everything changes, and everything stays the same, all at once..back in 2000 when Cumulus acquired the #1 station in Ventura-Oxnard (KHAY) they cleaned house and got rid of ALL the personalities in all day parts except one person left in Morning drive and the PD took over Afternoon drive. Middays, evenings, overnights and all weekend slots just turned into a Country jukebox. The weekday midday female jock was one of the best personalities I have ever heard anywhere. I have never forgiven Cumulus for letting her go...and I can't forgive myself for not remembering her name ! She was terrific...

aside from the divestitures; iHeart might enter KC, Buffalo, and Chattanooga meanwhile having Audacy's streaming app and Cumulus owned Westwood One lineup of syndicated shows along with the Hispanic and podcast offerings creates a bigger scale and reach as iHeart does.

I should point out that gives a combined library of the former legacy radio networks including the former radio divisions of ABC, CBS, and NBC.

It would see Westwood One come full circle, back in the fold with (other former) CBS Radio brands. Or would it? Depending on what you read, even Cumulus wants it gone.

LA doesn't need another sports station
With Audacy rebranding all their affiliates to Infinity Sports Radio, it makes sense for Kabc to at least clear some shows. Theyre the flagship for a Big 10 school now. That’s pretty huge to want to capitalize on that. having some sports programming will draw in more listeners than what’s on Kabc now
