Is Sniffen's Board/Site Gone?

I was mostly just a lurker at NYCRMB and rarely posted. I would only visit occasionally, but I can't seem to reach it the last few days. Did he shut it down and I missed the announcement?

His Rewound Radio station is down too, it's not even streaming via the iHeart app. I believe he hosts everything himself and major computer failures have simultaneously taken out all of his sites in the past, so that could be the problem again.

Rewound Radio has a Facebook page. I think Alan Sniffen should announce there if there are technical problems with his server.

It was funny after Y107 he said country would never come back to NY
I said theres always a chance
They all laughed
Then NASH showed up
Wow did i rip them a new one on that
They didnt like it. 😁

I noticed his sites were down yesterday and today. He must be pooping himself. Or, maybe, a really bad dental case has his full attention.

As a tribute, I should delete this thread :)
Shhh, don't be nasty. (That's my job. :p )

From a SysAdmin/NetAdmin standpoint, I see a few problems with his infrastructure, but the big one (unless he's fixed this recently) is that everything goes through the same network connection to his ISP. If there's bad weather that takes out either, he's SOL on everything. Same if the line gets cut, there's an extended, wide-area power outage, or the ISP suffers a DDoS attack. All his services become collateral damage.

He's turned his collection of sites into a 501(c)3, so there has been some outside money donated, but he still funds most of it himself, out-of-pocket. As frustrated as I've been with him -- and no shortage of other former participants -- he deserves credit for putting his time, effort and money where his mouth is.

Ironically, it was around 2:30 PM EDT on Wed. 4/10/2024 that the websites went offline.

He posted on Facebook

Rewound Radio is temporarily off the air due to a construction crew tearing up a fiber-optic trunk line about a mile from our dedicated server. This is out of our control -- it's not "Norman" or any other Rewound Radio equipment.
We're working with Verizon to get a new line spliced in but there are complications due to its location.
Rewound Radio will be back as soon as possible!!

He has put a lot of time and effort over the years into Rewound Radio

Always wondered how he could accuse people of being anyone other than who they are with his famous Ok "John Smith." Personally, if anyone wanted to be *me* for a day, they are more than welcome to the experience. I always felt there were much more in-depth conversations on RI without (for the most part) the snark and condescending tone with the know-it-all approach and the need to filter out any post he personally doesn't like. His board his rules it seems... In the end no loss...

Spoiler: There are dozens of people on that board not using their real (or on-air) names.
