Well lately they are doing terrible in the iE shares 1.9. the exact opposite in the Victorville radio market where they are number 1. They cover Victorville well.
Even down in hemet. Lake Elsinore and crestline. I'm betting they get excellent well paying ads from Victorville. Probably not that good in the San Bernardino market but only KGGI would know that. I already know why they do so well in Victorville they are the only chr station in that market. They have a lot of competition in the iE. Just saying

There is no such thing as a "well paying ad" in the High Desert. It is about the worst radio market in America, maybe tied with Key West.

In the IE all the Mt Wilson stations, even low-power KSCA, do very well.

I don't know what the term "well paying ad" means. How much could the the 30 second spot rate in the Victor Valley/High Desert possibly be ?

I remember looking at the shares for KGGI 1991 for the past 3 months during that year and they were always in the top 5 alongside kola KFRG and kcal. My how the years have changed
 
I'm not sure what year this happened, but didn't the owners of KGGI launch an AM country station somewhere in the IE around 1300 on the dial that was called "The Toad" in the 1980s or 1990s with the purpose of (perhaps) ensuring that KGGI would be the IEs top-rated station ahead off country powerhouse 95.1 KFRG?

It is an overall low-rate market. There are 36 commercial stations, 27 are FM... not including translators.

The highest biller does about $100,000 a month. That means $6 to $12 60" spots... or, maybe, $4 to $10 buck 30's. There is about $7 million in total radio revenue to be spent among all 27 commercial stations. And the local commercial stations only get 40% or less of the local listening quarter hours.

A lot of the range of rates has to do with what is bought. Monday-Sunday 6 AM to 10 PM gets a lower rate than only drive times. And a lot has to do with negotiation.

The lower billers do proportionally less. The #10 station in 12+ ratings does less than $20,000 gross billings a month.

It's not supposed to cover that area. It is a Riverside/San Bernardino station and that is where it sells advertising. None of the local stations in that market get any money from the LA market except, maybe, a few car dealers and the like who are right on the border of LA and the IE market.

The station was on 1350 and played Country Classics. I should mention that 1350's "The Toad" was for a short time actually simulcast on the now defunct 850 KGOE Thousand Oaks! 1350 in San Berdoo has had a variety of formats including Country that goes way back, but In the early 60s the station was KCKC that ran an MOR format essentially copying KGIL 1260 which was in the San Fernando Valley portion of the LA Market. Since the IE is located primarily the San Bernardino Valley. The station had jingles produced by the same company that did KGIL's. One of them was "KC KC in - the - Valley" !

1350 is now Fox Sports

I heard 1350 in Wyoming several times... once i knew what to listen for and when, I could seperate it from Pueblo, CO's 1350, also running Fox Sports!
