You guys are sitting around hemming and hawin' over a song that never charted a station's format - defending it.
How high did Running Up That Hill chart for Kate Bush when it was a current? I can't tell you because I never played it.
But last year, it became a cross-format smash. What should that tell you?
Don't base what you play now by what was done 30 or 40 years ago. Nobody cares about then. They care about now.
ZZ Top never got country airplay. But today Billy F. Gibbons is a guitar god in the country format. Had their records come out today, they would have been played on country radio. I don't care about what charted or didn't. That's for the historians.
BTW, the only person I see making a big deal about a song here is you. It's just one f-ing song. Get over it. The reason I asked about the Chili Peppers is both KVIL and KEGL play them. You say KEGL needs to distinguish itself from KVIL. They do, but with other songs.
I just did a Mediabase search to see what other active rock stations are playing Sabotage. I found 85 other stations including WRIF Detroit. So other stations in the format are playing it now.
