Next week, 60 Minutes will have an interview with the Pope. If you ask any interviewer, from Larry King to Oprah Winfrey, who they'd most like to interview, usually the answer is the Pope. Whoever it is at the time. They're obviously making a big deal about this. They'll do a 1 hour special. Likely feature excerpts on CBS News Radio. Get ready for a papal blitz.
They had a promo for it on this week's 60 minutes. For mother's day, Norah O'Donnell asked him about the role of women in the church. He answered that the church itself is a mother. It's referred to as the mother church. And when you think about Jesus, only the women stayed with him at the end. All the men, including his disciples, had deserted him. I heard that and was floored. It was a whoa moment. I'd never heard it said that way. I can't argue with his logic. But I have many other questions after hearing what he said.
Should be a good interview.
