FM Frequency of the Week: 97.5

Hartland, VT:

W248DA Hanover, NH, translator of WTSL (1400). "The Penguin," with a "Chill Hits" format of AC hits with heavy appeal to female listeners (Adele, Ed Sheeran, Cher, etc.).

Meriden, CT:

WALK Patchogue, NY. Hot AC.

Wilmington Delaware

WPEN Philadelphia 'The Fanatic' with an All Sports format. It is the Flagship station for the Flyers, Sixers, and Union. It has terrible ratings compared to WIP the other All Sports station in Philly. It is the weakest of the Class B Philly stations here as I've never gotten a HD signal. During any type of TROPO WKTT in Salisbury MD comes in overriding WPEN. Many times I've tuned in expecting Sports programming and hear rap music from WKTT.

Tyler, TX:

Local Newstalk KTBB-FM, licensed to Troup. Even as a local, transmitting roughly halfway between Tyler and Longview, Central Texas' #1 hit music station "97.5" KWTX-FM from Waco will occasionally come up and overtake KTBB-FM at my place.

Central Kentucky:

Powerhouse Country WAMZ Louisville.

100 KW at around 50 miles away. Prevents hearing anything else on that frequency.

When I lived in the South end of Lexington I could receive it on a stereo receiver with a " T-bar" FM antenna. Like the ones they packed with receivers back then. Decent stereo signal...

If I go south past Danville, towards Somerset there are spots it will swap paint with WJXB, Knoxville

Clifton, New Jersey

I get W248CG "Radio Cantico Nuevo" Jersey City, NJ, which is an FM translator that simulcasts 1530 WJDM Mineola, NY. I can get WALK-FM "WALK 97.5" Patchogue, NY depending on the spot and propagation. I have received WPEN "97.5 The Fanatic" Burlington, NJ many times during tropo.

Hey Michael, were you able to receive 97.5 PST/The Hawk when the transmitter was in Trenton?

In the Wilkes-Barre(Northeast PA) area, it's mostly W248BP from Scranton, a translator that simulcastsr religious "Family Life Network", which can also be heard at my location via WKRZ 98.5 HD-3 and the local powerful 92.5 translator. This translator used to be atop the Pnebscot Mountain a few years ago before it was moved to Scranton recently. Despite the move, I can still hear it with a clear signal.

There is also an low power station WBWE-LP broadcasting from Nanticoke, however its reception wasn't too great because it was prone to interference with the translator when its transmitter was based on the Pnebscot Mtn. However, for more than a year or two, it was believed to be not broadcasting. According to the FCCData.org's website, it is still listed as "Licensed" instead of "Silent". WBWE was airing a mixture of Adult standards and oldies.

Whenever W248BP was off the air, I also got the translator from Bloomsburg simulcasting classic hits "Hanna Radio", but with a faint signal.

Before these two stations signed on the air, I used to get WPEN-FM "The Phanatic" from Philly during tropo openings, and at one point, it came in strong on my old portable Insignia HD radio.
