MLB Sunday package still up in the air

Three weeks into the season, and the Sunday noon EDT package, on Peacock the past two years, is still MIA, with only whispering from "executives" hiding in anonymity providing what little information there is. You'd think this would be something MLB would get settled back in March -- or even earlier -- so promotion could begin before Opening Day, wouldn't you?

This package was a terrible idea, although it was probably very lucrative for MLB. Peacock having 0 to 3 games for your team in the whole season wasn't a big enough incentive to buy Peacock.

I'm sure MLB is trying to hype the exclusive national window, but a window that runs from 8:30 AM PT is hardly a national window.

The games on Peacock sucked. The games on Apple TV suck.
There are sometimes decent matchups on Apple TV. One of the games this Friday will be Giants-Phillies, two teams with significant fan followings. The Peacock games, though, were often the least attractive on the Sunday schedule.

MLB also used to put games on YouTube on weekday afternoons. That ended after the 2022 season, and the following season, MLB cut off relations with YouTube TV.

Im not talking about the games but the production.

Sunday Lead-Off Baseball resumes May 19th on The Roku Channel which I am presuming will be produced by MLB. Bob Costa back on Play by Play?

Here is an article on the subject

The matchups start on May 19 with the St. Louis Cardinals hosting the Boston Red Sox. Broadcast teams each week will be market-focused, with Chip Caray (play-by-play), Will Middlebrooks (analyst), and Alexa Datt (reporter) calling this Sunday’s game.

So they appear to be using the local TV announcer crew rather than the MLB team.

I don't have the Roku Channel on my TV, but I'm able to stream it with no problem via therokuchannel.roku.com on my laptop. The sports offerings are pretty much the same FAST channels available on Pluto, Xumo, Tubi, Plex and similar services. I'm not reading anything in the Variety article that indicates the baseball games will be exclusive to those who have the app on their TVs. Is that your understanding, too?

Here's the story from MLB:

Yes! It’s simple to watch Sunday Morning Leadoff even if you don’t have a Roku device. Just download The Roku Channel app, which is free and available on Amazon Fire devices, Samsung TVs and Google TVs. It is also accessible via therokuchannel.com. No login required.

Here's the story from MLB:

Cool. I can now drop Peacock after the Premier League season ends in a week and pick it back up in September. I was subscribing only for the soccer and MLB, not interested in any of its entertainment programming.

u know theres Olympics, Big Ten, Sunday Night Football, Notre Dame Football, NASCAR and Golf Channel right.

Remember when YouTube aired some games for free so this nothing new about free streaming games but unfortunately YouTubeTV is no longer have RSNs and MLB Network. It's anything but fragmented thanks to big tech greed.

I'm watching the Sunday Leadoff game of the week on Roku right now. No subscription required. I just downloaded the app on my Fire stick. There were some Roku promos in the commercial positions to sell the channel and encourage subscriptions.

I detest NASCAR and its cretinous "culture,"
That same "Culture" is represented on Country Radio formats.(Try That In A Small Town" is one example of the mentality.)

Baseball at 1130am on Sunday isn't going to attract many viewers on any channel. I'd rather watch a baseball game at the ballpark anyway...
