Tony Luna bounces back

Announced today that Tony EX PD of MEGA 101 is now PD at Christian Vida Unida 91.7 Here in town. I did not see that coming. Wonder how long it will take Audacy to hire a new PD for MEGA 101 i would guess that JD out of Dallas is currently taking care of programming.

As Vida Unida is being built into a national format, it must be quite a challenge to broadly appeal to Spanish speakers with widely different cultural origins. Has Spanish language CCM found some common ground to work with? Some of the musical styles I hear on VU are quite different than what is played elsewhere on Houston’s Hispanic targeted stations.

Meanwhile, any word on who will be programming SBS’s new format on 92.1? Only a little over a month away from its supposed launch.

Well that eliminates Tony from the names for SBS. Either way the format coming is Regional Mexican and at a good time KLTN is stuck in 3rd place and not Connecting with its key demo. SBS will have a superior signal compared to what Estrella Media Currently has.

Is that now a certainty for 92.1, and not going after Mega or Latino Mix, or trying something new in the market?

Surprised we have heard absolutely nothing regarding SBS’s plans for the station, though I am keeping an eye out for any call change request that might be filed soon to be effective at the sale consummation.

SBS could seriously damage La Raza and El Norte if they do things right.

Of course it is MediaCo running the rimshots as Estrella is now essentially a shell company that owns the station licenses.

Not totally. The Estrella stations have decent signals in the Houston HDHA areas, which is where most of the Spanish language listening is found.
