Fresno / Central Valley KTiP Porterville

Speaking of Meadow Lakes, KVPR sends a marginal signal into Porterville from that mountain site. Even Visalia and Tulare listeners can have signal issues with NPR-Fresno. KPRX does not backfill the Porterville coverage gap either.

Surprise! Surprise! JA Ventures must be reading this thread.

Today, KTIP's owners filed to upgrade the 101.3 K267CG translator to 250 watts, ERP and move it back on to their AM tower. (If you drive by the tower you will see an FM translator antenna already there installed by the previous owner.)

The signal might now reach into Lindsay, Exeter and even Tulare. Jam'n 101.3 for everyone!

AM contour overlap.

Instead of using a LPFM, why don't they try to apply for 103.3 Lindsay, former KNGS radio or the old KSLK 96.1 Visalia.

Point of clarification.

LPFM is a non-commercial service with a maximum ERP of 100 watts and generates its own programming. A translator can be commercial or non-commercial with a maximum of 250 watts and rebroadcasts an existing station.

The two terms are not interchangeable.

Yea my mistake I meant translator.

KGEN AM/FM, the sister station of KTIP, seems to have audio problems since at least this afternoon. There is no audio on either 1370 or 94.5, only carrier. KTIP continues just fine.
