That's pretty much what I was getting at. The channel might get a decent number of older folks who haven't seen, say, "Top Cat" since they were kids, but how many are going to keep watching the channel once that initial nostalgic glow wears off. The humor in most of these cartoons is, by design, juvenile, and I can't imagine too many well-adjusted boomers and Gen X'ers making them regular viewing in their 50s, 60s and 70s. But hey, at least there's a potential audience out there, even if some of them will only watch once or twice. The fact that nearly everyone of a certain age knows these cartoons well insures a steady stream of eyeballs for advertisers.I wonder what percentage of 'Boomers' are interested in sitting around watching cartoons either from their youth, or more recent cartoons? Especially since most are available from on-line sources.
I'm guessing it's a small percentage, maybe .001% of the total U.S. senior population?
480i… that’s disappointingAppears this will replace the duplicate feed of ME-TV Plus in some markets; such as on 51.2 and 51.3 on KYAZ here in Houston.
Why? They originally aired in NTSC, which is essentially the same thing.480i… that’s disappointing
Of course it's horrible on a screen designed for much higher resolution. But the NTSC system was 525 lines total, with 45 or so being for sync, leaving 480 for video. On a CRT it looked much better. The modern definition of video specifies just the visible part.ATSC 480 does not compare to NTSC. Its horrible
There's a setting in most modern flat panel TV's that will automatically fit old 4:3 content to 16:9. Some newer 4K ones will up-convert additional lines to enhance older content. Now I realize that’s sufficient for this programming considering the bulk of cartoons that will be aired were made specifically for television and it’s unlikely they would be rescanned in HD. It’s possible the original source is not a high quality source. The Bugs Bunny episodes that MeTV runs on Saturday morning are widescreen and HD and they look great.
Some more Gray stations and yes coming to KC area. They announced a bunch of affiliates today and now have where to watch on their site. I see I’ll have it in Memphis on WMC’s new low powered sister station WTME 35.6, which is interesting because so far there is only 35.1. Telemundo and 35.2 Outlaw. I just we also get Dabl and maybe Catchy on one of the other announced new ones 35.3, 35.4 or 35.5.
I also see neighboring Jackson, TN is getting it on WBBJ 7.5, which is interesting because in the past they have been cheap and they ran an extremely limited MeTV schedule that shared space with the bigger CBS on 7.3 for many years until they finally added 7.4 so MeTV could have its own full channel.
And I see it will be available on Frndly and Philo as well.

I already have YouTube TV and am not about to shell out another $20 or $25 a month just for one channel among the otherwise uninteresting offerings of Frndly or Philo. If the channel doesn't find an OTA home in Manchester or Burlington/Plattsburgh, which might get it carriage on YouTube TV, I guess I'll have to settle for whatever scraps Weigel gives to the FAST channel. Those streaming services listed are available nationwide, not just in Kansas City.
