Corus-Global news cuts

Global consistently has the highest rated newscast in Vancouver, but CTV takes the lead in the other markets. Presumably, the “Global News” branded news/talk stations like CKNW will be impacted as well. I’m surprised there were no additional cuts to talk and music stations.

The talk and music stations have no cuts because, rather than sell gutted stations, it may be more profitable to sell stations as is and let the new owner decide what to cut and where. Keep on mind though that I am only guessing that selling is the plan. I don't see how Corus can fix their current mess otherwise.
Here is a Financial Post article claiming that a 24 cent share value (was once, at least $13) could become zero
in the (very) near future: Corus shares may be worth 'zero' after Rogers-Warner deal, TD says

A bigger question would be who would be a suitable buyer? Since the CRTC limits ownership to 2 FM and 2 AM stations per market, that rules out most of the major players with deep pockets. Cogeco may be a candidate if they want to expand their footprint.

CRTC Rules did recently change, but you are still correct.
The old rules were two AM and two FM. (and still allowed)
NOW, 3 FM and one AM is also the new allowance, just as long as it's still a max of 4 radio stations.
What that actually means is yet to be seen...
