Site is dirt slow

Since Saturday the site has been really slow and sometimes not even loading for me. Is it me or is there an underling issue.

It began slowing down with the increasing ad load on the site, Don. I would suggest either an ad blocker, or just suck it up and deal with the decreased speed. It's a free site, at least for now, so these are some of the things with which we have to contend.

I say for now, because I wholeheartedly expect to see a "premium membership" roll-out featured some point soon. Kinda like the iHeart app, there's the free version packed with ads and with you (as the user) not in absolute control of your account. Then, there's the paid subscription service (@ $10.81/month) that gives you free reign to navigate, download, and peruse the entirety of the app as you wish.

Look at RadioInsight as an example. The free stuff is standard fare, but if you pay the extra money for a premium membership, you get the premium service. They've got to monetize this forum somehow, unless users like you and I start supporting it with a monthly donation.

As I've stated multiple times here, We haven't had the ability to change anything on the ads yet and won't be able to until I move the site to my server. There have been no changes to the ads since Frank was still alive and all of the revenue his still going to his partner.

Please don't presume anything regarding a subscription. It has been suggested to me by some users, but until we complete our updates of the site, it is not something we are planning. The first step is to find some sponsors that can target the readership here like streaming providers, services, etc and phase out Google ads.
If ads are causing the page to barely load if it loads at that's not a good thing.
Ads do not cause the page to barely load. This seems like an issue on your end. Perhaps clear your browser cache or try on a different browser/device.

Third party speed tests show no issues with the connection or loading.

It's definitely something that changed on the site Saturday, Multiple locations it's just a problem here. The site will barely load sometimes.

Loading fine here, Lance. Ads splatter over text at times, but a website's gotta do what a website's gotta do to pay the bills.

Nothing has changed on the site's end.

And when I can change the placement of the ads I will. Usability is a priority with everything we're doing. Still a lot of cleanup to do.

Here's an example of advertising splatter. I clicked on Lance's name and the left-hand portion of the box containing his info is obscured by the ad. No big deal, but haven't noticed this until recently.

I'm far from the server and speed is the same as always. I do have to mention that I have 1tb/1tb FiOS internet, so at my end there is nothing impeding delivery of the site content.

ive had no issue with the site slowing down lately.. and with one real good satellite connection and one poor satellite connection, if someone would notice an issue, it'd be me.

@Don CT i reallyh think it might be you..... clear your cache and check what browser plug in crap you have going

Zero issues here in the wilds of the Sonoran Desert.
