Washington Jeez.......Nothing about DKM show being let go at KZZU in Spokane?

Judging from the comments on the Spokesman Review, people are furious. If 105.7 were smart they would scoop them up, especially since 'ZZU has been smoking them in the ratings for years.
Perhaps they'll be moving Joey & Lauren (syndicated from Boise) over from 96.9 to 92.9

How does that show do locally in the Boise Nielsen numbers? The real question with a loot of talent-based shows is whether they "translate" to other markets or are a local phenomenon, sorta' like ducks in Stuttgart.

Exactly. And just because a morning team has been around a long while, doesn't mean it still translates well to listeners or advertisers today. Because morning teams like this have had such long tenure, their associated salaries have probably outpaced the revenue attributed to their show. That's especially true today as advertising revenue has been in serious decline, especially in mid to small markets. At some point, the group leadership must decide whether they can afford legacy talent.

Morgan Murphy cut the Dave, Ken and Molly show last Friday after 32 years on KZZU.
The sad part is they didn't even get to say goodbye. All fired after the show, just like that.
They also made cuts to other airshifts at KZZU and also KXLY-AM. Hundreds of well-wishes and goodbyes from listeners on Dave's Facebook page.

I wonder if this move will send some listeners packing for good - to 98.1, 103.1 or 105.7? KZZU is ranked #5 in the Nielsen ratings and this could lead 98.1 or 103.1 into the top 5 eventually.

For as long as I can remember, radio stations don't allow folks being terminated to say goodbye on the air. That's what their personal social media pages are for.

My bet is they might lose a single digit percentage, but paying their salaries likely cost the station a double digit percentage.
