Defy TV to rebrand as Ion Plus

This would seem to be a “back to the future” move, as Ion used to have an Ion Plus branded subchannel on its O&Os. It went streaming only a few years ago and is still around; curious if Scripps is simply returning it to OTA.

Ion Plus has been available via Roku as one of their live offerings, but there is no way to record it.

Right. This is the old "Ion Life", which became "Ion Plus". So, it will be back OTA after a few years as a streaming option. The program schedule is basically dramas and action, with a lot of Canadian series.
 
I wonder if Wood DT3 will be Dare TV on July 1 or if it will become ION+ as I thought that Scripps didn't want rivals in the same markets to air their diginets. I was surprised that DYFY was picked up on Wood's DT3 in May.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but isn't there ALREADY an Ion Plus on Scripps stations & on Ion O&O's as a Digfnet?? If so, Defy might run into legal issues

I'm not clear why Scripps would sue itself for using a name it owns on a different network it owns.

In this press release from back in April, Free TV Networks is claiming Dare will cover 80% of the country on its July 1st launch day. I'm not sure how they plan to do that considering most Defy affiliates in large markets are on Scripps O&O stations which will be replaced with Ion Plus. Maybe some stations are planning to drop The365/Outlaw, the other diginets that Free TV Networks operates. In markets where Gray Television carried Defy, its likely they will switch those to Dare instead of Ion Plus.

Doesn't Gray Television have an alliance or partnership with Free TV Networks? That's one part of the battle right there for them.
 
Looks like Wood TV DT3 will be ION+ Sat night looked liked early morning had ION+ then at 11AM had Counting Cars as I thought maybe be Dare but today looks to be ION+. Which WXMI Fox17 DT4 will also be ION+ don't get why Wood TV just didn't sign on for Dare after DEFY ending today at 6AM. ION+ will be on channel 193 on Spectrum in Kazoo I'll check if it is ION+ or Dare later today.

Not that I'd watch only DEFY for Pawn Stars in the background sometimes late at night on Late Sun/Early Mon. With Dare would only be Pawn Stars and maybe Live PD: Patrol as I saw the Dare lineup seeing what DTs both Wood TV DT3 & Fox17 DT4 both said Dare which I knew was wrong Fox17 at least.
