I'll get your back on this statement. 37 yo white male here. Somebody Told Me is a staple of EVERY format that targets millennials. I've programmed multiple of them, a few of them very successfully.

Hell, even my rock leaning Classic Hits station went to #1 with a Gen X targeted demo when I dialed back on the hair bands and leaned into the more New Wave 80s, Alt Rock 90s and early 2000s.

My personal opinion is that iHeart has changed 97.1 too many times for a massive audience to ever return, regardless of how well every song they play tests with the target audience...Time will tell.
I’d like to think that since the eagle has been taken out twice now maybe some of the audience will just think it’ll happen again and I just imagine some of those listeners might have lost their trust for the station and might be devoting their loyalty to another station they feel might stick around longer but again, just my thoughts.

The ratings say different

Well yes true but for how long?

Well, them playing Twenty One Pilots and Imagine Dragons more often to mix with White Zombie, ACDC, and Metallica may bring their listeners down. Those belong to Edge HD2, Alt, Indie, and maybe KXT, Jack and Mix.

I never understood how those groups were considered rock, I thought them more to be just alternative but I guess whatever, I mean 102.5 here and Waco considers lose yourself by Eminem rock so who knows

I think they're seeing there's a larger audience for rock variety than for a more narrow view of the genre. It's something I've seen in streaming playlists for a while.
