Sterling on Sunday...

...really is a terrible show. Sabo must have some form of attention disorder. Try as I might to listen impartially, I just cannot keep up with the spazzy disjointed stream of conscience that is that radio show. Lord help you if you start listening halfway through. It almost doesn't matter though, because even if you hear it from the top, nothing about it makes any sense. Or am I the screwed up one?

I also tried listening to it once and found it incredibly boring.

And now hes on 5 nights a week 9 to midnight on WPHT

I havent listened to the show at any point/time yet but I need to try to

Listen to it if you're having trouble sleeping

I can tell you that on FB (im friends with him there) hes a typical conservative host. not too crazy but definately shares stuff that is a dig at biden and not always based in 100 percent reality.

Do stations just have nothing else to air at the times hes on... or maybe they dont care about quality of the show for ratings due to it being on at a time when not many people are listening on a weekend because they are doing things in real life but you would think the target audience of that type of show would be listening to the radio a lot anyways on the weekend so its perplexing to me. He also says he takes calls but the only times ive heard him take calls pretty much is at the very end of the show.

You don’t need to try unless you’re into masochism

True, and im not.. BUT to be fair and to have any factual opinion on the show, i should listen once or twice

This is what you get when you remove politics from talk radio. A boomer talking about himself.
At least Rush could ramble on and on about himself and make it entertaining. Which is something his imitators and emulators throughout the years seem to have always failed to grasp.

I happened to listen to Sterling tonight, and he called his show "The Great Experiment." He called it that because, as he put it, his show is the first live & local show on this station since 1928. I said, "Hmmm, is that true?" I don't know.

Obviously the first 25 years, the station carried CBS Radio prime time. But after that?

Retconning the entire history of 1210 AM as if nothing never happened is definitely a choice.

That's nonsense. In addition to the 13 hours/day of live and local shows on weekday, Mike Opelka does a Saturday night show that he originally called an "experiment" when it began a couple of years ago.

Also that frequency hasn't been WPHT for all those years:

Whoops. What Sterling said was his show is the first live & local program IN THIS TIMESLOT since 1928. Sorry I forgot 3 important words.

He didn't specify WPHT. The fact that he dated it to 1928 meant all of the various call letters and formats.

Hmmm….I am remembering Steve Fredericks doing a live local evening talk show on 1210 in the 1980s. It was sports oriented so not sure if that is in his definition of “live and local”

IIRC Ruby Cheeks and Rollye James both did local evening shows on WPHT way back when. Then there's Sid Mark...

He’s still dead wrong.
