Had wondered in the past whether HMG would put its national WAY-FM on a local subchannel, but this isn’t it.
Agreed; WAY-FM is basically a national version of KSBJ. In DFW billboards for WAY-FM use the same style and graphics as KSBJ has locally. Had wondered if some of the more peripheral simulcasters of KSBJ (Brenham, Victoria, Livingston) would flip to WAY-FM, but that hasn’t happened.I think KSBJ and WayFM are way too close formatically for that.
The peripheral simulcasters are there to fill in the main signal's coverage (some of which was lost in the tower move).Agreed; WAY-FM is basically a national version of KSBJ. HMG owned KAWA in DFW has Vida Unida on its HD-2; might the new Worship format appear as an HD-3?
Worship 24/7 is a separate network operated by 24/7 Media Ministries mostly in Oregon and Washington. (Worship 24/7 | All Worship Music | Worship Radio)Listened for a short while, only type of ID is “Worship 24/7”. They do have song and artist info on the screen text.
Nothing about this new service on either the KSBJ or Hope Media Group websites. Perhaps a soft launch or proof of concept? Maybe this is HMG’s answer to Air1.

Why does KFNC and its related translators come to mind?🤔🤪Perhaps KSBJ-HD2 will be feeding a translator.
KFNC would be a good acquisition for HMG. It would help with the Galveston coverage as well as a stronger signal for the golden triangle and even extreme SW Louisiana. It would also free up 99.9 as another affiliate for Vida Unida, or even NGen.Why does KFNC and its related translators come to mind?🤔🤪
I wonder if they have their booster on again. I’ll have to checkGave this a listen this morning on my way to work... the format is pretty good, but audio and signal quality is pretty subpar, had a bunch of signal dropouts on my drive from Conroe to Woodlands.
The music sounds similar to those of us who don't usually listen to Christian Contemporary music. But from the name, I'm assuming this subchannel plays "Worship Music." It is a different format or style.KSBJ has a HD2 channel now. Very similar to HD1. The station is called WORSHIP.
I don't listen to either of them, and more power to those who do, but residing in ETX where these congregations will lift their hands up to the sky, swaying back and forth, and are even, sometimes, "overwhelmed by the Spirit" enough to cause them to drop to the floor and start speaking jibberish (in tongues, as they prefer), the simplest way to explain the difference between the two is that CHR (or Top 40, if you prefer) is the secular version of CCM, and Worship is closer to what might be called the Christian version of Adult Contemporary.I couldn't tell them apart but people who listen can.
The key difference between CCM and P&W is in the lyrics. CCM will have more personal stories about an individual’s relationship with their faith, while P&W is more of an almost hypnotic group experience of praising God and Jesus. P&W is what you will find at evangelical church services.I don't listen to either of them, and more power to those who do, but residing in ETX where these congregations will lift their hands up to the sky, swaying back and forth, and are even, sometimes, "overwhelmed by the Spirit" enough to cause them to drop to the floor and start speaking jibberish (in tongues, as they prefer), the simplest way to explain the difference between the two is that CHR (or Top 40, if you prefer) is the secular version of CCM, and Worship is closer to what might be called the Christian version of Adult Contemporary.

I always thought it was a useless signal repeating 91.7. At least it has a purposeUpdate: Worship 24/7 has replaced Vida Unida on K217GB, the 91.3 translator in the Med Center that serves the SW part of Houston’s urban core. Lance’s speculation of the HD-2 eventually feeding a translator was correct. Will be interesting if this pops up on additional signals.

K217GB is licensed to rebroadcast KHVU, as it has been doing for some 25 years now. Not KSBJ's HD2.
Just pointing it out. What's good for the Guevara goose, should also be good for the Hope gander.
They sure can, and most certainly will, SRG. I'm only mentioning that they simply haven't to this point. Most of us would have filed a change of primary prior to, or quickly thereafter, beginning an LMA of a HD2/translator pair. I suspect there would be much wringing of the hands down there in the Space City, if one of the other translators, and we should all know of which translators I am referring, were suddenly relaying programming off of an HD subchannel from a primary they are not currently licensed to broadcast.so? unless im missing something here, they can change the primary and they probably did, it just hasnt shown up in the database.

No dog in the fight, it just seems like a double standard is coming to light in H-Town. Just one guys unsolicited, and likely unnecessary, opinion.
Not surprised that Hope has moved Vida Unida off of the translator. It adds very little to what 91.7 already covers, and does not cover a large number of Hispanic households around Sunset Blvd. and the Museum District. A praise and worship format seems a far better fit for the signal.
