Jeff Vaughn sues CBS News Los Angeles for Discrimination

Here are the allegations in the suit.
Jeff Vaughn worked for KCBS-TV (Channel 2) and KCAL (Channel 9) in Los Angeles for eight years, until he was dismissed from the Paramount-owned TV stations last September.

In a lawsuit filed in federal court this week, attorneys representing Vaughn claim he was “never given a reason for his firing,” but he suspects it had something to do with the network’s apparent desire to replace him with a younger, minority news anchor.

Vaughn’s attorneys say the news anchor suspected something was up last August, when he was told he would be terminated. He was given the opportunity to say goodbye to viewers on what was his last newscast with the station, but only if he affirmed his departure was of his own making.

“Mr. Vaughn refused to lie on-air,” his attorneys wrote in the complaint.

Here are the allegations in the suit.
NOTE (from the article): Vaughn is represented by attorneys from America First Legal, which describes itself as “a conservative legal organization that defends true equality, national sovereignty, freedom of speech and religion, and other American values.” This is Stephen Miller's organization that files lawsuits for white guys claiming discrimination.

OMG - A pox on both of their [CBS/Miller] houses!

First, age discrimination suits go nowhere in the dog and pony show known as infotainment. It's show business first, last and foremost. I wish it were not so. Remember Marcia Brandwynne?

Secondly, caution is needed when reporting on personal sex matters. Even trying to balance things makes for a mess and harder to avoid the Stephen Miller, malcontent and nuisance lawyer, types.

Come to think of it, local T.V. news is now the lowest rung of the electronic info ladder, sadly. Anchors today aren't allowed more than 2.2 seconds of continuous face time in one camera shot, I think, just to avoid their image becoming part of the brand. I do feel bad for Mr. Vaughn, he deserves better than this but still remember the venue.

Gone are the million dollar greeters - see KNXT-2 of yesteryear below.
