Skip Bayless to leave FS1 this summer

One year after Shannon Sharpe departed FS1's Undisputed, longtime co-host Skip Bayless is reportedly on his way out as well.

Per Ryan Glasspiegel of the New York Post, Bayless is leaving his role at Undisputed after eight years, with his final show set for later this summer.

I can't imagine there's much of an audience for "Undisputed" and similar national daytime sports talk shows, is there? I mean, it begins at 9:30 a.m. Eastern, Aren't most of the 25-54 males in the Eastern time zone at work by then? If the show is attracting retirees and unemployed people, why do the advertisers remain on board?

ESPN's Pat McAfee owns this time slot

There isn't. The show's peak ratings were around 175,000. But ratings for Undisputed have declined sharply in the last couple of years, with Sharpe leaving and new competition (McAfee) on ESPN.

Among sports shows, sure. But for some perspective, the Pat McAfee show is rated similarly to the total day ratings of the Discovery Channel, which is mostly reruns all day. Around 240,000 average viewers. Sports networks don't get much viewing outside of live events.

The difference is I doubt discovery channel is paying 100 million dollars for a contract to air those shows.... Part of the problem in my view is espn is hard to get you have to have cable or internet tv paid subscription to watch it.... And something that also makes no sense to me is even if you pay 10 ninety nine a month for the espn plus service you dont even get any of the live espn channels to watch, just selected events that arent that great.... I couldnt even watch the home run derby on espn plus even when i had paid for it....

ESPN+ airs (at least through last season the did) most of the NHL games that don't air on The Mothership or TNT, including almost all local broadcasts, regardless of origin. They also air the college basketball games of smaller schools. some of whom make the NCAA Tournament. Worth the price, in my opinion.
