James B Sikking at 90

An inspired casting of him in the role of Captain Styles, in Star Trek III. No doubt, a direct descendant of Hill Street's Lt. Howard Hunter. 😁😉
 
It is always sad to read when an actor whose work one appreciated succumbs to dementia. :cry:
 
His dead-pan portrayal of Lt. Howard Hunter on "Hill Street Blues" was great!

Yes, like any talented actor, he immersed himself in the role and made it memorable. I do not know if Steven Bochco intended for the character to be so gung-ho and yet in some ways aloof, but Sikking saw that in Howard Hunter and ran with it.
