Benny Smith apparently ousted from WUTK

I'm not completely sure what's up with WUTK "90.3 The Rock", the University of Tennessee's student station as GM Benny Smith is apparently ousted. More from the Knoxville News-Sentinel.
"As the Knoxville music scene seeks answers about the employment status of longtime WUTK General Manager Benny Smith, a respected and well-liked personality in local music, a popular live program featured on the college radio station was pulled from the air a half-hour before showtime and the WUTK Facebook page was taken down."
WUTK shows paused as Knoxville music scene grapples with future of longtime GM Benny Smith.
So....sale of the station? Repurposing it (maybe NPR News-Talk as WUOT is mostly Classical?

That last statement is kind of what I am suspecting. I know WUOT has had listeners/donors on both sides that want classical & others that wish WUOT would follow most NPR affiliates & go all news/talk. I could see them offloading the classical programming (& jazz etc) onto 90.3 & going all talk on the main 91.9 signal. Or possibly just keeping the current mix on WUOT HD2 & simulcasting on 90.3. I honestly imagine WUOT would bring in more donor money & underwriters than WUTK does. If that does happen though, I would look for them to move WUTK’s programming to an online stream or an HD2 or HD3 sub channel as many college rock student stations have done. It’ll make many mad, as is already happening, but it’s probably a smart financial move.
The 90.3 signal could also be used by WUOT to launch a non-com TripleA/indie station similar to WNXP in Nashville or Indie 102.3 in Denver. My bets would be classical or the current WUOT HD2 programming tho.
