East Alabama WRHP Anniston call sign change

Elijah Radio, the new owner of WRHP 100.1 FM in Anniston, requests new call letters of WIJL.

Also, why is it necessary to choose a prefix for each thread now in order to post?? 🙄 The only problem with this idea is some areas such as Anniston are not within any of the major city/area options. I chose "Birmingham" bc the software evidently won't allow me to post unless I choose one of them, as I receive an error message until one of the area options is selected. Administrators..FYI, Anniston is SIXTY miles east of Birmingham.

@passtheword Please read the announcement here: https://radiodiscussions.com/threads/introducing-topic-tags.772270/

I've added an East Alabama tag. Not sure if there's enough of a need for one. We're not going to create tags for every single area, but Anniston IS part of the Birmingham DMA, which is what we were using while setting up the tags for this one (Actually, Frank had these setup for Alabama and a couple other states before he passed, but never completed implementing them).

I haven't heard what other forum users feel about these new tags, but I find them unnecessary and distracting.

People complained when we combined all the unused sub-boards into the state boards, so this is to allow filtering by subject. If you only care about Montgomery you can follow the tags for just that. It's to allow users to utilize the site as they see fit.

As an example, someone posted a couple months ago a post titled "WQEN-HD3". If someone didn't know where WQEN was they may not have cared about the post. The tag tells them it's about a station in the Birmingham area.
To each his own...
We're not going to make everyone happy all of the time, nor should we try to. We're trying to do what we believe will make the boards more accessible for all and increase engagement. This has so far done that.

Please in the future, use the Ask The Moderators board for any parts of a topic having to do with the site operations so that this thread could've been about the original subject instead of being hijacked.

I figured Elijah Radio would probably be changing the call sign omce the sale was consummated, as most (maybe all?) of their stations use the "JL" ending (as in "ELiJah").

I find them helpful. Since B'ham is not a top 20 market, it does not get it's own forum. Sometime I am interested B'ham and other times I am interested in Mobile. For the combined state forums, the tags are a huge necessity such as Alaska, HI, and Pacific. All very different places but not enough traffic for separate forums.
