K287BQ now simulcasting with KGBC and K269GS

In the Baybrook Mall area today and did a quick bandscan since I’m on the opposite side of the market than usual. Found the Power 105.3 format simulcasting on 1540 and 101.7, so it appears KGBC might now be considered the originating station for both translators. Have not seen any FCC filings on this, however.

  • Wow
Reactions: HTX
I've noticed 105.3 has seemed weaker. KTWL has been coming in a lot easier

Only illegal for the last 3 years.. but I don't think KGBC qualifies (distance) to be the primary signal for 105.3 can anyone confirm that it does? I guess no takers for the 11k a month for 1540

If FCCDATA is accurate and they're nondirectional, then I believe they would need a slight null to the NW.

It doesn't .. Kgbc does not work.
It appears that you hold a personal bias against the individuals at 105.3 FM. Despite your apparent lack of understanding regarding the subject matter, you speak a big game, which is concerning, as it may lead others to accept your statements as truth. KGBC AM can serve as the primary station for ANY translator located at Wells Fargo Plaza or Chase.

I have conducted an analysis of the site, and it appears that KGBC can serve effectively as the primary radio station for any of the translators located at Wells Fargo Plaza, making K287BQ legal. If not mistaken Gow Media also was legal with 92.5 K223CW reason fcc accepted the application for filing.

Personal Bias? I like Mr Gow i have always had a great working relationship with the man even worked for him a few months when the 1560 sports project was taking off was even at his office a few months ago and got the tour. Do i wish that the Houston translators kept it legal for sure but you don't see me turning them in. Individuals at 105.3? I dont think i know anyone other than Piolin .that they air and i worked with for a while. Speak a big game? A few years ago, when 101.7 came on the air Liberman at the time hired me to see if the Pasadena 101.7 could move to a better tower and hurt the signal they had out of Bay City that at the time covered Houston a bit better than it does now and we looked if it could move to Downtown and it was not an option because KGBC was too far. I mean you can say it is and if you can show it on paper that would be great. For you to say the fcc accepted an application because it was legal shows a weak defense. For the most part the FCC will approve if no one complains or if it is an obvious attempt to lie to them. Astros2023 i get that you work for them but please do not accuse me of having anything bias against individuals when i have never mentioned a name and would have nothing to say about people I have never worked with or personally know. i'm a regular fan of 105.3 and listen to Piolin from time to time but were talking about a company that you can't show proof has had a hd or primary signal for years.. and we both know they don't broadcast on ktwl yet i hear the call letters on the legal id .

BTW the K269GS signal was quite solid at Baybrook Mall. I suspect they may have their new upgraded facility in operation, which would throw a major lobe in the Baybrook direction.

SMH...Complete nonsense. Are you suggesting that I am employed by them because I'm debating your fabrications? You are irrational. It is evident that the efforts "you moving/consulting" Liberman fell short. Cesar Guel moved K269GT-FM 101.7 successfully established itself downtown. This indicates that your work done was not effective, particularly considering the attempt to relocate K269GS-FM all the way from Galveston to downtown. Consult a qualified engineer, and they will provide you with the same insight. I am not condoning any past misdeeds committed by them, as many other translators ( Let's don't go down that rabbit hole again). What I meant to convey is that you are mistaken in believing that KGBC cannot serve as the mother station for K287BQ.

Update: A silent STA request has been filed for KGBC and K269GS:

“KGBC FID#26002 Galveston, TX and K269GS FID# 147268 went silent on August 10, 2024. Silence is due to the loss of programming and internet connection.”

Not clear if this is just a technical failure or if something more is going on with either Power 105.3 or the rumored flip of KFNC to a format run by the Power management.

KGBC supposedly would be the originating station for K287BQ but there is no FCC filing that reflects that.

Note that K287BQ and K223CW are both owned by SDK Franco.

I still think that something bigger might be going on. If the Power 105.3 group is thinking about a Regional Mexican format for 97.5 they would still need an originating station for the 92.5 translator, currently KBXX HD-2. Wonder if Power could wind up on an HD-3 of KBXX to originate K287BQ?

Something might be going on.. 104.5 is also broadcasting an illegal id ..
They only mention the translator call sign no mention of a fake primary or city of license.. strange cause they have been using a non-existent primary since i can remember. Not sure why the sudden change

La Grande 104.5 is most likely to be killed off by SBS if they indeed go with Regional Mexican on 92.1. Double whammy if 97.5 follows a similar route under the Power 105.3 management. Might be the end of La Mejor on 102.5 as well.

Change seems to be getting closer.
