Sponsorships with no sponsor mentioned?

So I listen to a station that has different features throughout the day, and they are sponsored.

What's weird to me is they'll say "coming up, the blahblahblah feature. It's sponsored by ABC XYZ Corp." Then when it comes time for the actual segment, no sponsor gets mentioned.

I was just wondering how common this was or if anyone has an explanation. When I had sponsors I gave them love AT or DURING the segment, not necessarily before.

What do you think?

really wouldn't matter, commercial or non-profit. Businesses agree to pay for spots and/or sponsorships and they had better have a presence within the sponsored feature or they might cancel. With non-profit, businesses agree to underwrite a feature, they expect to hear credit given as a sponsor. It might be as simple as 'the forecast is sponsored by (name of business)' but it needs to wrap the feature at the least. Don't do so and expect them to never underwrite on the station again.

it's a commercial station. They tease the upcoming feature and name the sponsor, roughly 15 minutes prior to the feature. But no mention of a sponsor during the feature.

Hard to say what was included in the sponsorship agreement. May have been super-discounted, and just included the message you heard.

Yup, either what Kelly said, or the sponsorship actually expired but the promo didn't get pulled due to an error.

A lot of times, you'd sell a package that had a 5 or 10 second sponsor tag on a tease of the feature, plus a spot directly with the feature. Something like: "Ahead at 4:30 on 102.7 the Breeze, your closing markets with farm director Vince Banks, sponsored by Smith & Stone, your local International Harvester dealer in Moline"

It would be possible for someone to cancel the copy on a spot, but not cancel the promo. It might be hard to notice because the programming staff is only following the instructions from sales. And the sales person would only notice if they listen at that time, or a bill comes through for a client they thought had been cancelled.

A little different, but 50s/60s oldies 63 Big WAYS outside Charlotte NC, whose owner has a full power classic hits FM which is now being shown in the published ratings and doing well, has a sponsor for each hour of music. There are commercials for other advertisers too. These are mostly local businesses like a bowling alley, a funeral home and a company that repairs heat and A/C.

Selling the hourly ID has become rather common in recent years.

One of my stations before my taking over, used to have a sponsor for the dead air after sign-off each night. The sponsorship was in the sign-off.
"These next relaxing six hours of quiet are brought to you by the King Coil Mattress Company." "King Coil reminds you that tomorrow is another day, and we hope you have a pleasant night's sleep thanks to the quiet and your King Coil Mattress."
