Fresno / Central Valley Fresno Translator Battles

One of stations fighting encroachment has been KMAK 100.3 Orange Cove. last night I heard some English, an interview with a novelist Perhaps some public affairs drop-in. later on it was back to the usual Spanish language content.

I noticed "KKDJ" audio on 100.7 while I was near Visalia. This must be KNGS-LP Hanford. As far as I know, the former "KKDJ" pseudo radio station (via a translator) is now just a relay of KXEX AM Fresno.. a better use anyway.

Id rather hear KKDJ than the right wing garbage on KXEX now

Heard 103.3 testing today. Whatever software the had for the audio (automation, audio processing?) had a voice saying TRIAL every 5 seconds and 5 of 15 seconds of audio was silence.
I can hear them in Calwa (inside the house!) they are playing a few seconds of Use Me by Bill Withers along with the voice saying TRIAL

Not quite a translator battle but instead an ugly situation:

Chávez Radio Group's KBHH 95.3 may see much of its Fresno coverage wiped out thanks to a proposed LPFM:

Unlike translator's interference rules , their is no 45 dBu protection zone possibiloty for full-powered stations against co'-channel LPFMs' interference.
The FCC today accepted for filing the amended Fresno LPFM application for 95.3. The paperwork calls for 100 watts and about an 80' tower (26M).

The paperwork seeks a second-adjacent waiver but the applicants forgot to update the paperwork from the original 40 watts to reflect the new 100-watt filing. (Not sure of theimpact)

With co-channel Forge KBHH blasting in from Kerman the Fresno LPFM will have poor coverage. Look at this:

...So I tested One Putt's geofencing for KYNO. I had established a stream connection at Yreka, it lasted until Medford on I-5 before I closed down.. The next morning the KYNO audio could not be accessed... Conclusion #1: KYNO is geofenced to California only. Conclusion#2: Drats!!!

GMC’s request is granted. Accordingly, Special Temporary Authority is granted to permit Station K272GD to remain silent until October 10, 2024. Notwithstanding the grant of this Special Temporary Authority, the broadcast license for Station K272GD will automatically expire as a matter of law if broadcast operations do not resume by 12:01 a.m., October 11, 2024.

I'm glad the over the air signals can't be geofenced like that, because KYNO often booms in quite well up here in the SFBA after dark (sometimes it fades and some Spanish-language station takes over).

Can you receive KYNO on 940 AM that far north? It seems unlikely, but who knows what the skywaves will do. They seem to be especially hot lately (I could actually hear KYNO in the afternoon – a rare treat – the other day, so apparently there's some daytime skywave happening).
