WICC in Nearby CT Now Simulcast on 95.9 FM

WICC 600 AM in Bridgeport CT is calling itself The Voice of Connecticut. They can now also be heard on 95.9 FM, which had been playing rock music as The Fox. The news/talk station is also airing CBS news each hour.
I heard them air an interesting call with Jerry Wershaw, CEO of owner Connoisseur Media. He said that this is in part an effort to extend the signal, to help fill the void left by CBS Newsradio, which he said had many listeners in southwest CT. He also mentioned the trend for many news and talk AM stations to be simulcast on FM. It was also mentioned on the air that more changes will be coming to their programming.

This action appears to reflect two trends in this area: Removing an FM music format, to simulcast an AM talk (or sports) station. And eliminating one of the few stations in the area that played (comparatively) recent rock. Apparently The Fox had very low ratings.
I like the fact that WICC discusses numerous other topics besides politics. Perhaps there is a void for such a station in New York. And at least their airing CBS News on the hour partially fills a void left by the departure of WCBS 880 news radio.
