Was Hendrie on 550 or 620 AM?

Watching the recent documentary about him - which features Jonathan Brandmeier - and I distinctly remember hearing Hendrie locally (not from the super-signal KFI in LA.) However, I can't remember whether it was 620 or 550 - I'm thinking it would have been 550, since they still carry Handel on the Law. I'd be curious to know if any complaints originated from Phoenix. I'm still waiting for a documentary about the recently-retired Tom Leykis (who undoubtedly has a complaints file that rivals Hendrie's.)

Phil Hendrie was also on KFYI in their early 550 days.

I remember this! I was listening the morning of The Flip: KFYI & KGME switching dial positions.

I don't remember how long Heidi Foglesong and Jim Sharpe were paired together. I remember Jim jumping to KTAR to host mornings with his then-wife Melissa. The Sharpes replaced Bill Heywood, who then joined Heidi at KFYI.

It must not have been long. I remember listening to "Heidi and Heywood" on KFYI at the time of 9/11. So less than a year?

The show was also on 910 am and 1015 fm for a short time. Then after KTAR FM dropped the show it went to KBSZ 1260 am. I miss the show and the bits.
My favorite Phil characters were David G. Hall, RC Collins, Rudy Canoza & Ted Bell. His podcast is ok but there’s nothing funnier than hearing his old show with callers getting wound up and Phil trying to play peacemaker while egging the callers on as the characters.

I was also listening to KFYI the morning of 9/11. Between Sharpe and Haywood, Heidi was 'married' to Austin Hill, who was also doing late nights with his Talk Soup show. Until E! TV told Hill to stop using their name. Hill changed it to Talk Brew.

I enjoy the podcast but I'm glad the Internet Archive still has many of his old radio shows. That is until Phil takes them down.

Phil's biggest Achilles heel is how crappily he's treated his fans over the years. He kind of acts like Ted Bell to the ones who post his stuff. Yes, I understand he wants to make money from his work with his Backstage Pass, but before he set that up, he would still rip people for making old shows and clips available.

Yep. I'm sure he's a "swell guy" as he would say, but I never want to meet him. The whole thing about meeting your heroes.

I've read on the Phil Hendrie subreddit about people meeting him after he did a live broadcast somewhere a long time ago and they said he was nice back then.

That's good to hear. I've always pictured him having a short fuse purely based on his preshow, but perhaps I'm misjudging him.

Remember, David Hall was the PD of KFI. So it was an "inside joke". At several stations where I was the GM, we had a morning show character that I voiced would be the "gringo" who made stupid mistakes trying to speak Spanish and saying things that were often "dirty" words.

Were you as funny as Hendrie?
