Possible KFOG or KABL Aircheck Discovery

I bought some old reels of used tape at a local consignment warehouse today, and as I'm going through them, there's bunches of comedy shows, some sitcom audio (one I recognize as The Jeffersons), and some instrumental music that sounds like it came off a radio.

Whomever recorded this reel cut out anything that might've helped ID where this music came from, but there's a good chance it was from either KABL or KFOG, both of which were on FM and played this sort of stuff in this area back in the 70s and early 80s, when this tape was probably recorded.

I don't think there's much point in copying and uploading any of it, but if anyone's interested nonetheless, I can see to it.

Can't hurt, if you have the time.

My mom did the same thing a couple of times---taped Beautiful Music stations for use in the car and hit the pause button when they'd begin a break. No way of telling what station it was.

If I had kept those (I didn't), and my stuff ended up in a consignment warehouse, you could jump to the conclusion that since you found them in the Sacramento area, the station recorded must have been KCTC or KEWT in Sacramento.

But mom recorded those from the cable system in Bishop, and they were either KOST, KJOI or KBIG, Los Angeles.

Without anything to ID it, there's not even necessarily a "good chance" that what you have was KABL or KFOG. People move, people inherit. That could have been recorded anywhere before it wound up in the Bay Area.

Even if it was labeled, it could be mislabeled. My brother picked up a tape of what he thought was the old Lite 99.7 KLTH but it ended up being all instrumentals that KLTH never played. I doubt he was that disappointed, because he probably got it for not much money at a garage sale. He also got a tape of FM 100 as well as Rock 103 in Columbus, Georgia doing a "Dixie Weekend" that was interesting.
