KTCK AM/FM joins Victory+

Presumably KTCK audio would be available on the app as an audio streaming option. Does The Ticket use studio webcams? I’ve never checked, though I assume that would be available as well.

Right now the Stars Victory+ app has a welcome video along with some player profiles and classic highlights. First game webcast is Saturday, September 21; Victory+ will have all six preseason games and every regular season game that is not on a national telecast.

I can also see some Anaheim Ducks content on the app, as they are also using the Victory+ platform. However Ducks games will not be available outside their own television territory.
 
Junior Miller just confirmed that KTCK AM/FM on Victory+ is an additional digital streaming service. It does not replace the SportsDayDFW app, or the The Ticket.com or any other streaming platforms currently available.
 
The Ticket is available on a lot of different streaming platforms. It makes sense Victory+ would do a deal with them too given their broadcast of the Stars games.
Will be very curious to see if there's anything more to it than that.
 
The way this has worked in some other markets is the radio station creates some exclusive content for the teams. That's possible here. iHeart had a deal like that in several cities. Good Karma does it in some of their markets. This is the first that I'm aware of for Cumulus.
 
I wonder how much of a delay will there be during the hockey games. If Victory+ is feeding TV audio to the radio, then they must be using some type of pre-delay system.

KTCK would be taking a direct clean feed from the video production control room, not rebroadcasting Victory+. Same situation was in place during the BSSW years.
 
WFAA did a story on Victory+ last night. There was still the tease in it by the Stars they might look to find an OTA home for some games... The season is only a couple of weeks away, so hopefully they do decide to add that component like all the other NHL and NBA teams that have broken up with a RSN.

Vegas will be on a network of 10 over the air stations in Vegas, Phoenix, Tucson, and all over Montana. Utah will be a network of 3 stations in Salt Lake City, Boise, Twin Falls plus also share the KASW Phoenix and KWBA Tucson with Vegas. Seattle will be on in 8 markets. Florida will be on in 3 southern Florida markets. Anaheim has KCOP 13 Los Angeles to carry its games (and the Victory+ app) and three Chicago teams including the Blackhawks will form a new RSN that will also carry the games on WJYS 62.2 and 62.3 there.

Like Vegas and Seattle, the Stars territory is pretty geographically large. Having a network of over the air stations in Texas and surrounding states is a lot of eyeballs to bypass.

You would think KTXA, but with the new Paramount Global ownership possibly putting many of their stations on the block, the Stars may look elsewhere.

First Victory+ Stars game is Saturday, September 21. Will be interesting to see all the new production elements.

Scripps has 3 of the 6 NHL teams that are now OTA. They could easily create a network for the Stars as they own...

What about OTA stations in Oklahoma and Arkansas. Those states are in the Stars NHL broadcast territory. Those fans who don’t like streaming TV (like me) would be SOL!!!

Yes. But what about those folk like me who do not watch streaming TV. They are SOL if they are fans of Dallas Stars Hockey.

If you're a fan of Dallas Stars hockey, then you'll either learn how to stream games (it's easy) or you won't get to see them.

I expect the Stars owners either believe you'll want to see the games badly enough to start streaming, or they understand that in 2024-25 the vast majority of their target audience is already accustomed to streaming and won't have that issue at all.

The Anaheim Ducks are on Victory+ and KCOP-TV in Los Angeles this year. Not sure how all that works, but I have to think that the idea there is to provide the widest possible distribution and ease of access to their games. I would imagine that ads are the same on both. I think the Stars may hold off to see if they get decent viewership on Victory+ alone.

Well I don’t own a smart television. I don’t have a joystick thingy and don’t watch television on a telephone.
